Britney's big comeback performance is just two days away, and we're obviously excited to see her back onstage performing Gimme More. We can't wait to see what she's been working on for the past few weeks with Criss Angel since we are holding out hope that they are only in a working relationship together anyway. Natalie Portman and her new man looked smashdorable and cozy watching the US Open in Flushing, Queens on Wednesday night. Look at them all cuddly! The lucky boy and the darling actress watched on as Venus Williams (in her teensy short shorts - how'd you like those?) defeated Jelena Jankovic to move onto the Semi-Final round of Women's singles. We can have all the precious celebrity babies in the world, but these may just be the sweetest pictures we see all day -- almost as sweet as the ads for her new movie.
Jake Gyllenhaal was looking scruffy and smiley as he arrived at the airport in Toronto yesterday. Obviously the baby faced actor isn't too old to rock those Air Canada flight wings pinned to his sweater and if he was really lucky maybe he got to visit the pilots in the cockpit. Jake is going to have his hands full this weekend - not only is his new movie Rendition premiering at the Toronto Film Festival tonight, but he's got some late night hotel rendezvous with Reese to plan. We just can't wait to see him all fancied up on the red carpet.
Fashion wasn't the only thing Rocking last night, elsewhere in Manhattan celebs were gathering for a Save the Children charity event. Mischa managed to make both parties, hob nobbing with the likes of Julianne Moore, Samuel L. Jackson, Edie Falco and President George H. W. Bush. Edie looked especially radiant on the red carpet out to celebrate some awesome casting news - she's returning to the small screen for a three episode guest starring gig on 30 Rock! Yay! She is definitely living every week like shark week!
Lindsay confessed her broken heart through her moving lyrics about her daddy. Now as part of LL's rehab process, she allowed her father to visit her in Utah. The abusive father who has been in and out of jail has found Jesus yet still loves himself some media coverage. This is gold to him. We're just thrilled Lindsay is still working on getting healthy. It's been a nice break this summer without her. As for the important reunion, E! reports:
"The moment Lindsay saw Michael, she started running and jumped into her father's arms," says an eyewitness to the reunion. "Her father hugged her and swung her around. Lindsay was so happy. It was very emotional."
Reached for comment after the Thursday afternoon visit, Michael, normally very chatty with the press, refused to reveal any details. But the Lohan patriarch was clearly overjoyed. "I can't comment on my relationship with my daughter," he said. "But [the reunion] was amazing."
We're not so sure we support the Lindsay and Michael Lohan reunion but it is all part of the healing recovery process and since they are both going through it perhaps all parties will come out changed. Let's just hope Michael doesn't run to every media outlet available to dish on his special day with his daughter. Sounds like he already has learned it's important to keep his mouth shut this time around.

Thousands of mourners have come to pay their respects to the late Luciano Pavarotti, who is lying in state in the cathedral of his home town of Modena until his funeral on Sunday. He definitely will be well missed by his adoring fans. - BBC News

Twinsies with Alli! She has spent many an hour "planning" things with Criss Angel, but methinks rigorous hours practicing the moves might be even better preparation. But that's just me.
