Nick and Vanessa headed to Washington this weekend to support the Tacoma Rainiers (Nick's Triple A baseball team) and for a celebrity charity softball game. Nick showed up for some batting practice but it looked like he spent more time making out with Vanessa on the field - now that their affections have been exposed to the world, hey why not? Vanessa even wore a jersey bearing Nick's last name. It's not exactly on the same level as the cute Beckham boys wearing David's number, but we'll give her points for supporting Nick's passion for sports.
On a day of celebrity news that leaves me with a sad feeling in the pit of my stomach, a little brightness of a happy family is always welcome. Naomi, Liev and amazingly adorable little Alexander took a walk around LA this weekend. Naomi is definitely looking great these days, but it's all the more lovely to see her with her boys. Plus, having that baby in his arms makes Liev totally more attractive, right? I guess that's just the thing about good looking big guys with precious little ones.
Violet Affleck got to be Daddy's little girl running some errands with Ben Sunday morning in LA. It looks like she even tried out a new side ponytail look, which is super cute but still no match for Level 4 pigtails. Ben's hat may say Retired, but somehow we don't think he means it in the literal sense especially with his directorial debut Gone Baby Gone hitting theaters this fall.
I was wondering where all the Heroes were at last night's Teen Choice Awards and now it seems like overseas promotional gigs were keeping them away from the green carpet. The team divided and conquered their international obligations, one group including Hayden and Milo is taking care of Europe, while this crew with Ali and Masi Oka are taking on Asia. It looks like Ali was enjoying being the only girl in her crew and certainly didn't miss the opportunity to change dresses between the two Tokyo events. All her boys, on the other hand, seem to be keeping it to one suit a day.
Even more bad news for Britney Spears. According to TMZ, Britney is being investigated for child abuse and just this morning her lawyer, Kevin's lawyer and an LA County lawyer assigned to cases involving dependents met for an unscheduled hearing.
The details of the case were not disclosed, but I think it goes without saying that this is not a good thing for Brit and her ongoing custody battle. A September 4th custody hearing is apparently scheduled as a follow-up to this morning's impromptu one. Britney may not be winning mother of the year anytime soon (to put it lightly), but I would still be surprised if her behavior were considered abuse. That being said, this is just going to keep getting messier for Brit.
