Late in Thursday night's LA Galaxy game at rainy RFK stadium in DC, David Beckham took the field. Shortly afterwards, he was topless. Hel-loooo wet, shirtless Becks! By all accounts David played well coming in at the 72nd minute of the match, but unfortunately the Galaxy still lost the game 1-0. Afterwards Becks had this to say, "It's difficult after eight weeks of hardly doing anything. But I'm happy to be back on the field, disappointed to be losing, but we'll have to look forward to the next game." Not everyone is disappointed, however, because rumor has it that Nike is eager to lure Becks as a spokesperson when his contract with Adidas runs out in 2008. David's biggest cheerleaders, Victoria & the boys, weren't in the stands for the game, but there will be much more soccer Becks to come. Yay for that.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association threw a little luncheon yesterday in Beverly Hills honoring their 2007-2008 slate of officers as well as to announce $1,200,425 in financial grants to film schools and non-profit organizations. Celebs were on hand to help announce the grants including Jennifer & Marc, Eva, Hilary Swank, Forest and Charlize. Most of the beautiful women were just eh for me, other than Charlize whose recent birthday vacation in Belize clearly left her refreshed and gorgeous. Call me crazy, but Marc looked kinda good, right? What do you think -- are you loving or hating the ladies' red carpet looks?
Britney's perfumes have been so successful that Elizabeth Arden has created spinoffs. Curious became In Control Curious, Fantasy became Midnight Fantasy and now Arden is set to launch Britney's latest scent, Believe this October. The ad that Bella has posted has created much debate. The rumor is that Britney's head was photoshopped on the body of a stylist in the picture. A rep for Elizabeth Arden has denied it, saying,
“We recently shot Britney Spears for the print campaign for her new fragrance Britney Spears Believe, in Santa Monica. It is true that Britney did leave the set; however, she returned after a brief time. Cayli was the wardrobe assistant on the shoot. We used her as a stand in so that we could set up the lighting while Britney was off the set. When Britney returned, we shot the national print ad with her. The only person in the national print ad for Britney's Believe fragrance is Britney Spears.”
It's clear if Britney did ever look that good again then she is not working on maintaining it based on these pics of a less toned Spears. At least she's with her cute pants-less boys in matching monkey shirts having some fun with a birdbath. All this innocent play is a better image for Britney to portray considering Kevin filed for more custody. No updates on that front yet, but at least Britney is spending time with her own little men rather than random college boys.
Hey hot momma! Nicole Richie is, uh, growing quickly, right? Nicole's attached-at-the-hip Joel accompanied his pregnant girlfriend to get her hair done at Neil George salon yesterday afternoon. I guess I was wrong in thinking that Nicole was going to let her natural color grow in just yet. Nicole's locks look fab and seem untouched by the wind that turned that umbrella inside out -- bizarre. This is still just the beginning of getting used to best mom ever Nicole, but I will say that it's already less surreal, right?
Drew's been laying low in LA and since she's back on the west coast, we haven't heard much about her summer flings with the likes of Zach and Spike. We wouldn't be surprised if free spirited Drew was getting along fine on her own these days besides, the girl has got plenty of other projects to keep her busy. Not only is she bringing the 80's back to VH1, she's producing her next movie, He's Just Not That Into You, which stars like Jennifer Connelly and Kevin Connolly have just signed on for.
