What does Britney need? Another living thing to take care of, obviously! She was out, Allie in tow (as if that needs to be said anymore), buying herself a pet bird at Petco yesterday afternoon. At least she looks happy? Unfortunately, things aren't sounding so happy with her supposed comeback record. Despite hearing yesterday that it contained a few sure hits, Britney's on-again-off-again publicist Leslie Sloane Zelnick is now saying the album has been delayed until 2008 at the earliest. She even issued this convoluted statement to Life & Style:

“I put her on hiatus,” Zelnik says. “Brit’s album is pushed until ’08. If she has no album, there’s no reason to do anything. I’m representing her in theory right now. I said that since the album is pushed back until ’08, let’s go on hiatus until we have a campaign to do.”

A music-industry insider says the album is delayed because Britney’s struggling creatively. "I'm surprised the album wasn't pushed back to ’09 — everything's up in the air with the album right now," the insider says. "Jive [Records, Brit's label] hated the songs Britney was coming up with, except for a few. The executives are not happy. And she didn't want to listen to anyone. Everything was a problem for her. They wanted her to work with certain people, and she wanted the opposite."

While Zelnick's statement is a little confusing, it doesn't sound like things are going well at the recording studio for Britney. Hopefully she won't scrap the idea all together -- we've been waiting too long to give up on her comeback just yet!

Mischa has been laying super low since her Memorial Day fun ended with her in the hospital from what was allegedly a mix of prescription drugs and booze. It's nice then to see her shopping in NYC this week with a big smile on her face looking super summery in her green Juicy dress and fedora (everywhere...fedoras). Mischa's got this summer to hang out and work on her constant Keds campaign, but she's got at least three movies slated to premiere this year. So it looks like she's going to have a busy Fall! That's what I like to hear from my favorite natives of The OC!

Dear Shia LaBeouf's Hair, How was the Transformers photocall in Madrid? It looks like a real gas! I'm super excited to see the movie when it comes out in the states July 3rd, but we have something to discuss before that big premiere. It's not me, it's you. (Also, your cardigan, but that's for another time.) The slicked back thing isn't working -- at all. It makes you look sleazy, skeevy and greasy, which are not good qualities when you are on your way to becoming the biggest movie star ever! Look how cute you were in smash hit Disturbia! Please, put down the hair product and walk away while you still can. Do it for the Even Stevens fans, SLB's hair. LL may have extended her time at Promises because she enjoys the cushness is fully committed to her recovery, but she's still taking some afternoon breaks to enjoy life outside rehab. Usually she just goes to the gym and back, but yesterday afternoon she hit up the boardwalk looking happy and healthy with some friends to rollerblade and bike. Despite her field trips, she's not sleeping at home yet and who knows whether she'll make her exit before her 21st birthday next week on July 2nd. Her Vegas bash is off, but I'm sure she's still got some actual good friends who would like to ring in the big day with Linds. Even, or especially, if she's clean and sober.

Seriously the woman had a kid 2 weeks ago and she's out and about in NYC looking fit and fabulous like nothing ever happened. She is clearly back in her normal clothes and she's wrapped up River Russell Deary to schlep him along to run errands. She was seen shopping at Whole Foods and dragging her laundry across town. How normal of her. Makes me want to like her again and then I look at her post-pregnancy body. Not fair. Period. Oh by the way, enjoy the first pics of River although we obviously hope to get better ones soon. No but really, good for Keri! She looks amazing!

Liev spilled the news that his girlfriend is expected to have their baby August 2nd so we can only assume this is Ms Watts' last vacation before she would be recommended by doctors not to fly. Perhaps she is stocking up on groceries so she can settle into life in LA to prepare to pop on the west coast. The couple was rumored to want to marry prior to being parents and with less than 6 weeks until d-day, they are running out of time.
