Britney scored number one for Worst Celeb Dog Owner, she's leading the race for Train Wreck of the Year, and now Britney has landed another title. CNN's Showbiz Tonight has crowned Brit Most Controversial Celebrity of 2006. Interested in how Britney took the crown over Mel, Michael Richards, Tom and Paris? Here's more:
"Showbiz Tonight" set four specific criteria that a celebrity had to meet before deciding who was the most controversial of the year:
Does the mention of their very name spark a visceral reaction?
Which celebrity provoked the most continuous shock and outrage from their antics over the course of the entire year?
Which celebrity generated the most continued interest through the year?
And, finally, did their actions leave any lasting impact?
Britney has had a big year full of lots of controversy, but which headline surprised you the most? Wonder why Brit looks so pissed off in these pics. We're just glad she decided to cover herself up a bit with some clothes.

Penelope and Salma have been BFF ever since Penelope came to the U.S. from Spain seven years ago. The two are often pictured arm in arm and their super close friendship has sparked rumors of a lesbian relationship. Penelope doesn't seem to take the rumors too seriously, and she can even remember exactly how they first started. She evidently grabbed Salma's behind at a press conference while they were promoting their film Bandidas. Here's more:

“I grabbed Salma’s ass just to keep things moving, because everyone was a little slow,” Cruz said while promoting her new film “Volver” reports Australia’s Courier Mail. “And, of course, the energy changed when I did that.”
The speculation in Hayek’s native Mexico is rampant. “There are magazine covers in Mexico describing us as these lesbians because of that,” Hayek said. “A lot of people were saying we were lovers.”
And then there’s the bit about Cruz saying that her “Head in the Clouds” co-star Charlize Theron was her best-ever on-screen kiss — despite kissing then main-squeeze Matthew McConaughey in the flick “Sahara.”
Wonder how Matthew feels about that one!

Jessica was in tears after she messed up the words to 9-5 during a tribute to Dolly Parton at the Kennedy Center Honors earlier this month. Before running off the stage Jessica said, "Dolly you make me so nervous. I can't even sing the words right." Jess has now decided she doesn't want to be included in the broadcast of the show airing December 26th. Here's more:

Simpson botched the lyrics when she originally performed the song live, then recorded it again for the broadcast show. However, ultimately Simpson's spokesperson, Cindi Berger, told the Associated Press after Simpson had viewed the tape, "She really wasn't happy with her performance, and she did want it to be perfect for Dolly, who she idolizes."
George Stevens Jr., the show's producer, said, "We appreciate the time and energy Ms. Simpson put into this event and respect the high standards she has for herself and that of the Kennedy Center Honors."
We're really bummed that we won't be able to see Jessica in the tribute. Sounds like she's just still embarrassed and wants to forget about the whole thing.

Renée stopped by Letterman last night to promote her new film Miss Potter. Dave, however, had other ideas. He was very interested in her quickie marriage (and divorce) to Kenny Chesney, and wouldn't let up about it despite the fact that Renée was obviously uncomfortable with the subject. Here's more:

When Letterman said, "Can we talk about your marriage to Kenny Chesney a little bit?" Zellweger quipped sarcastically, "I thought you'd never ask!" The host then said, "Did you kids really try?" Zellweger appeared visibly uncomfortable and said, "It's ok, baby, I can take it. C'mon, let's go. I'm ready!" The star kept trying to avoid the questions, with Letterman asking about the current state of their relationship saying, "Are you still friends with him?" Zellweger said, "Yes, I am still friends with him. Not you, anymore, now we're done! Oh, no, it's all over now. I mean we had a good thing going for years here." When he asked if she had started dating again, she said tentatively, "I like to say I'm not single, I'm just real busy. "I know all the guys in the different frequent flyer clubs around the world. I know them and they're all real nice to me!"
Renée seemed to handle herself okay. It might be awhile though before we see her on Letterman again! For more pics just read more
