Can't let today go by without wishing one of Hollywood's most powerful actors a very happy birthday. Crazy Cruise is 44 today. Maybe he will let us see Suri as a present to us.

Who knew his brithday was part of the reason he was cast in a movie. Page Six reports:

Oliver Stone says that Tom Cruise won the lead role in "Born on the Fourth of July" by telling Stone that his birthday was July 3rd. Stone, however, was disappointed when Cruise did not tell reporters about his birthday when promoting the file. Cruise apparently was worried that it would lead to discovery of real last name, which is Mapother.

Put this one under speculation but, Life & Style reports Pink is expecting her first child with hubby Carey Hart. "This is a dream for her," a friend told the tabloid. "She's always wanted to be a young mother." Another friend added, "She knows they'll be great parents."

Nick and Jessica seem to be battling it out for headlines this week. The divorce was just finalized and now they both have new songs to release. Nick was on the Today Show this morning talking about how, "...it's time to move on." • 14 year old Jamie Lynn Spears has cast mate Alexa Nikolas fired from Nickelodeon show "Zoey 101." The girls have not gotten along for some time and last August Britney got involved as well. • Matthew Perry called up management to get the best seats in the house reserved for Superman. Unfortunately Darren Star ignored the reserved sign and got his ass kicked out of the prime seats. Gwyneth has taken some much needed time off to enjoy her two kids. She did Proof while pregnant and has a small role in the upcoming Running with Scissors but for the most part she has been absent from the big screen. GWYNETH Paltrow, who took a break from making movies to have Apple and Moses B, will make her comeback as a psycho bride in a Farrelly brothers' remake of the old Charles Grodin-Cybill Shepherd comedy, "The Heartbreak Kid." The Boston Herald reports Paltrow will play the wife of Ben Stiller in "Seven-Day Itch," in which Stiller meets the girl of his dreams - while he's on his honeymoon. "Gone, Baby, Gone" star Michelle Monaghan will play the homewrecker.

I apologize in advance for the Monday morning double Simpson post. I could not resist the most recent Ashlee story. Apparently she is moving up and in with her latest boyfriend. I guess the virginity rule Daddy Simpson had Jessica follow does not apply for Ashlee. The bigger news is that the younger Simpson sister seems to have landed a pretty big gig to become the face of a new younger line for Victoria's Secret. The Gatecrasher reports:

West Coast spies say she's selling her Encino home to move in with boyfriend Braxton Olita. (Young Braxton, who plays guitar in her shows, has also graduated from sleeping in the band tour bus to bedding down in Ashley's own private coach, I hear.)

She ought to be able to afford some flashy new digs. It will soon be announced that the 21-year-old will front the campaign for Victoria's Secret's new line, Pink. She beat out finalist Kelly Clarkson to become the face (and hips and legs and … well, everything else) of the new line of younger, "cuter" lingerie.
