Kanye West went silent and covered his face when Jay Leno asked if his mother would be disappointed in his actions at the VMAs.
We've already talked about the moonman winners at last night's MTV VMAs and the A-list beauty and fashion looks that were on the red carpet, but what did you think of the performances?
I know some of you were unsure about tuning in this year, but I'm so glad I did, if for no other reason than to see Janet Jackson perform "Scream" as a tribute to Michael. Lady Gaga was over-the-top as always with her bloody rendition of "Paparazzi," and Pink cranked it up a notch with an actual high-wire acrobatic act. And since Jay-Z has been at the forefront of my mind lately, you know I was psyched to see him close out the show with Alicia Keys belting it out at the piano.
So many great artists, so hard to choose! Which one was your favorite?
The MTV VMAs brought its share of drama last night — some amazing performances, a heartfelt Michael Jackson tribute, and a huge moment that had everyone talking — it was a show that will go down in history. Check out all the winners here! The biggest story of the night was Kanye West making a scene when Taylor Swift won Best Female Video, but thankfully it all ended well when Beyonce Knowles sweetly called her up onto the stage to have her moment and he apologized profusely. The night was dedicated to Michael Jackson and kicked off with a touching tribute from Madonna and a performance including his sister Janet. The other big moment came when Kristen Stewart debuted her hot short haircut on stage with Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner to debut another New Moon trailer — watch it here.
Eminem was also a big winner for the night, walking away with a Moonman and participating in some funny sketches with Tracey Morgan. Lady GaGa had countless costume changes and a performance that left her hanging covered in fake blood. We loved seeing Jay-Z finish off the night with Alicia Keys as well as Pink's trapeze act and Beyonce's big group "Single Ladies." In case you missed any of the red carpet excitement, check out the men and women. Russell Brand's act is familiar after last year and we must admit we were happy to see Adam Brody on stage with Megan Fox to promote Jennifer's Body.
The MTV VMAs drew quite the crowd of handsome singers and actors on the red carpet outside of Radio City Music Hall Sunday night. Taylor Lautner, Diddy, and Chace Crawford looked dapper in their suits, while Jack Black fooled around in front of the flashing cameras — click through to see all the guys!
Well we survived another year of fun (or at least most of us did — looking at you, Lady Gaga) with the MTV Video Music Awards. There were plenty of interesting looks on the red carpet, but the good times began with the show. Whether you tuned in for all the Michael Jackson tributes, the performances, or the Twilight goodies, there was definitely a little something for everyone tonight.
Of course, there were a few awards distributed throughout the night between the acts. Kanye just about ripped poor Taylor Swift's moonman out of her hands in the name of "Single Ladies", but Beyonce didn't need his help — she took home best video of the year at the end of the night. Britney Spears, Green Day, and Lady Gaga were also honored, and you can see the full list of winners when you read more
Kanye made a total scene to kick off the VMAs. The first award of the night was Best Female Video, presented by Taylor Lautner and Shakira. Taylor Swift won and right as she started to give her acceptance speech, Kanye West jumped on stage, grabbed the mic from her hand, and started ranting. He said the Moonman should have gone to Beyonce for "Single Ladies," leaving the crowd — including Beyonce herself — looking quite shocked. He was booed immediately. Maybe he shouldn't have been drinking his way down the red carpet?
The MTV VMAs are just around the corner and we can't wait to see all of the glamorous stars walk down the red carpet. There will be a lot going on between performances by Jay-Z, Beyonce, Lady GaGa, and more, plus Janet Jackson's tribute to her brother and preview of This Is It. Of course, there's also the latest New Moon cast, clip, and soundtrack song! Russell Brand will be back to host the festivities, and with so much happening, tell us — what are you most looking forward to?
