James Franco Leans on His Ex For Support at the As I Lay Dying Premiere

James Franco hit the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival last night with his ex-girlfriend and current costar Ahna O'Reilly to premiere their new project, As I Lay Dying.

James Franco hit the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival last night with his ex-girlfriend and current costar Ahna O'Reilly to premiere their new project, As I Lay Dying. The two were joined by costar Tim Blake Nelson as well as Rosario Dawson, who doesn't star in the film but does share a connection with James as they have both worked with Harmony Korine. (James starred in Harmony's most recent film, Spring Breakers, while Rosario made her film debut in 1995's Kids, which Harmony cowrote.) The premiere was a big deal for James, who also directed the movie. We caught up with Ahna earlier this week in Cannes, where she talked about how excited she was that James asked her to take on the female lead after the two had broken up. She said, "I knew James could get any number of actresses to play that role," adding, "I think he did a tremendous job and I'm so proud of it and proud of him."

Ahna also premiered her new project, Fruitvale Station, at Cannes earlier this week — be sure to check out Ahna, James, and all the other celebrities at the Cannes Film Festival!

Ahna O'Reilly has not one, but two projects at the Cannes Film Festival this year, and we sat down with the actress to talk about this extraordinary experience, the reception to her two movies, and what it was like to work with her ex-boyfriend James Franco as a director. First up for Ahna was Fruitvale Station, which was coming off huge Sundance success before subsequently being picked up by The Weinstein Company. Ahna spoked about reuniting with good friend Octavia Spencer for their surreal Cannes Palais moment. Ahna also revealed how much she doubted that James Franco actually wanted her to star in his adaptation of As I Lay Dying and discussed who, between the two of them, was more nervous for their big premiere. Who Had the Best Half-Up Hairstyle This Week?

A half-up coiffure is the perfect go-to look when updos seem just a bit too formal.

A half-up coiffure is the perfect go-to look when updos seem just a bit too formal. This week, the red carpet was rife with these in-between hairstyles of sorts, with stars like AnnaLynne McCord, Lily Collins, and Ahna O'Reilly all wearing their own take on the look. For AnnaLynne, her half-up hair received a bit of a twist, with a portion in the back coiled around the base of her hair elastic. Lily went for a '60s bump and voluminous waves, while Ahna chose an off-to-the-side French braid. But deciding is half the battle; if you had to pick your favorite, which celebrity wins out?

James Franco brought his longtime girlfriend Ahna O'Reilly along on Saturday night for REDCAT's 2010 Gala in LA.

James Franco brought his longtime girlfriend Ahna O'Reilly along on Saturday night for REDCAT's 2010 Gala in LA. He took the stage to say a few words about the conceptual artist Glenn Ligon, who was honored at the event for his contemporary work. James was off to Utah on Sunday to film 127 Hours, which meant he missed that evening's screening of Saturday Night, a short piece created for one of his Master's programs, during the SXSW Film Festival in Texas. The movie takes a look behind the scenes during one week of creating Saturday Night Live, but it's not his only project making the rounds — his William Vincent will appear during the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival.
