After performing at Jingle Ball Friday night, Pete took Ashlee to the Knicks game on Saturday. Also sitting courtside next to the couple were LL Cool J and Alan Cumming, but it looks like Ashlee and Pete only had eyes for each other. These two are not your favorite new couple of 2007 and you're not into Ashlee's new single, but between celebrating an upcoming album and being very in love, it appears as if 2008 is going to start off pretty great for the starlet.

This weekend, we'll get our first look at Tin Man, Sci Fi's trippy new take on The Wizard of Oz. Starring Zooey Deschanel, Alan Cumming, Richard Dreyfuss, and Kathleen Robertson, the three-night miniseries centers the classic story in a land called the Outer Zone (or OZ).

Deschanel plays DG, this version's Dorothy, a Midwestern waitress who gets suddenly thrust into another dimension. Instead of a cowardly lion and a tin man, this version has characters like Glitch (Cumming), who's missing half his brain. But it still has a wicked witch: Azkadellia (Kathleen Robertson), who rules the OZ with an iron fist.

So far, reviews have been mixed — USA Today said this alterna-OZ was a bit too grim, while TV Guide appreciated its absurdity — but my TiVo's still set. Zooey Deschanel looked perfectly adorable and wonderfully pretty at the LA premiere of her new Sci Fi miniseries Tin Man in LA last night. While her character is named DG instead of Dorothy, Zooey was in the requisite ruby red shoes with a stunning red dress to match and little Toto in her arms. I've been looking forward to this series since learning about it over the summer and getting a first look, and that was before I realized how much I would miss her on Weeds this season. Zooey recently described the new take on a classic story saying, "It's postmodern, more like Indiana Jones than a fairy tale." While they had me the moment they cast quirky Zooey, I genuinely can't wait to see the first episode this Sunday.

The women of the ACE Awards posed all by themselves on the red carpet, but once the party got started inside it was all about some mismatched heights. Helena Christensen towered over the blue-haired Marc Jacobs while Mandy Moore totally dwarfed Jessica Simpson in this picture. Lucy Liu was more eye to eye with her Lipstick Jungle wardrobe consultant Patricia Field. Fab wants to know if you are loving or hating all the womens' outfits at last night's awards while Bella is more just wondering about Lucy Liu's simple look. Pop noted that she wouldn't want to be on the wrong end of a Who Wore It Better? with Jessica Simpson and Deborah Norville, and here it is.

Conde Nast brought out a random array of stars at the celebration of 20 years of Truth in Travel in NYC yesterday. Always one to stand out in the crowd, Alan Cumming sported a half tuxedo half kilt ensemble while Debra Messing looked good in very basic black. Kim Cattrall took a break from being sassy Samantha in her tame purple dress and posed with fellow SatC alum Mario Cantone. We wonder if they spent the night fielding questions about the plot of their new movie that has been keeping us guessing for the past few weeks.

This winter, Sci Fi is putting a new spin on The Wizard of Oz. The network's six-hour miniseries, "Tin Man," is a dark reimagining of the classic story set in modern times. Zooey Deschanel plays DG, a girl with a fairly boring life who is suddenly thrust into a magical realm known as the O.Z., filled with odd creatures such as Glitch (Alan Cumming), who's missing half his brain, and Raw (Raoul Trujillo), a wolverine of sorts who longs for courage.

Pop and I got the scoop on "Tin Man" over the summer, but the trailer is finally online for all to see, and I have to say, it looks pretty cool. The special effects are spellbinding even on the tiny YouTube player, and Zooey seems like just the right choice for the shell-shocked DG. Yay Zooey! Miss Deschanel was up in Vancouver with a few other Hollywood faces like Marcia Cross and Rumer Willis, to celebrate the opening of a Holt Renfrew department store. Dave Navarro was also in the house, officially making this the most random celebrity party ever. What would those four people ever have to talk about? Also, Alan Cumming was there. As usual Zooey was super cute while Rumer is totally stepping it up fashion-wise these days. She's totally going to be a "celebrity designer" within two years.

Scottish actor Alan Cumming (Cabaret, Sex and the City) has always been quite open with his sexuality (and bisexuality). That's great, but do we really want to smell like a raunchy pun on his last name? In case you don't get it, let me break it down for you: "Cumming is sexy, smoky, manly, dark, creamy, earthy, really earthy ...I'm cumming." Oh, jeez Louise!

Last night, Christina and Jordan helped Nylon magazine celebrate their 8th anniversary (and her cool cover) at the Gansevoort Hotel in NY. With Christina busy on her Back to Basics tour, she and Jordan don't get to spend as much time together, but she's happy to report that they're having no trouble keeping their love alive. People reports:

"He'll fill my room with balloons and I won't be expecting it....I'll come in the room and there will be balloons everywhere and a card and my favorite chocolates all around – and I'm always sending cards when I can, just cute little love notes."

It doesn't stop there. "He always leaves Post-Its by my bed when I wake up in the morning telling me how much he loves me. All that gushy stuff, but it feels good. He's the best," Aguilera, 26, said of Bratman, 29, whom she wed in 2005 and calls her "best friend in the whole wide world."

And while Aguilera says that she and Bratman "do plan on having a family," don't expect to hear pregnancy reports any time soon. "I do have a schedule for myself and goals I want to achieve, but it's definitely on the list of things to do in the next few years," she said. "We'll have fun trying in the meantime!"

People make fun of Jordan but I think he sounds like a sweetheart. No wonder Christina writes songs about "No other man" - he seems like he knows how to make this superstar happy. Long-distance love can be hard, but these two look to have found their perfect formula.
