During my LA jaunt this past weekend, my babe and I were invited to attend the Jayneoni Moore's Readalicious event in Century City.

Readalicious is a campaign that promotes early reading and benefits less fortunate children living in economically disadvantaged communities – those without the means to foster environments for reading and self learning.

Each child who attended the event was given a new tote full of fresh books while celebs read an assortment of classic books and modern tales. The tot texts were provided by Kane/Miller Publishing, Blue Apple Books and Simon & Schuster.

And since no wee event is complete without pizazz, the children also enjoyed cookies, chocolate milk, balloons and bubbles to their fullest.

The Golden Globes may not be going on as hoped, but that doesn't mean that the swag suites will all go to waste. Some — sorry guys — not-so-A-Listers were out in LA yesterday at the Kari Feinstein Winter Style Lounge to get their hands on some of the free stuff. Some of the first in line included Entourage's Emmanuelle Chriqui, Rex Lee, and Jeremy Piven. Chuck's Zachary Levi and Joshua Gomez brought a whole new level of meaning to posing fiercely in their fur vests. I'm sure they took those bad boys home. I'm thinking that most of the actual nominees who are boycotting the awards won't be swooping in to snag the swag, but who knows, perhaps the draw of free free free is too much to bear for some.

Ali Landry, who will always be the Doritos girl in my eyes, had a baby girl about six months ago and she is looking fantastic these days. She credits getting back into prebaby shape to having a very healthy pregnancy as well as working out through the whole thing. She told OK! that she thought she'd be back on the treadmill in no time, but things did not quite go according to plan.

Musicians, actors and supermodels joined Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton to celebrate the opening of Takashi Murakami's new exhibit in LA. Marc was still rocking the blue hair from Kate Hudson's party on Saturday night, but sadly he left his cheerleader costume at home. Also, debuting a new hair color was Christina Ricci, who lightened up her jet black locks. Bella wants to know which you prefer — light or dark haired Christina? And speaking of hair, isn't Portia looking a little too Rachel Zoe? The busiest man in showbiz, Ryan Seacrest, found time to support Marc and Takashi. In not so shocking news, Kanye West performed at the party...because he will literally perform anywhere these days...someone hire him for a company holiday party please.

Dita von Teese turns 35 today, but she got the party started last night at the Macy's Passport Gala 2007. Fab has all the details on the party, which helped raise money for HIV. Dita was joined by other fabulous ladies like Emmy Rossum, Brittany Daniel and Ali Landry and apparently she even performed a sexy dance number to finish off the show. This year at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive Festival, a panel of experts came together to discuss Getting Girls Into The Game: Designing and Marketing Games for Female Players.

As the population of female gamers continues to rise, game developers and media enterprises are reportedly working hard to create games that women will love. To do this, they are striving to tap into the female player market in order to understand what the latest trends and expectations are of this new demographic.

The experts of the panel agreed that the Nintendo Wii is brilliant because " it's cutesy and for girls, but because it makes gaming fun for everyone, not just the hardcore console crowd." I am not of the camp that video games need to be tailored to women in order to appeal to them, but I know it does help. I also know this is a touchy subject for both men and women.

I once asked the editor of Play Girlz what she'd say to someone that assumed women hate or aren't interested in video games and she said: Well I probably wouldn’t say anything. I’d email them, or IM them, or send in-game tells with disapproving emotes. And then it’s likely that I’d challenge them to a “friendly” PvP duel, pwn them, and then do a little victory dance … and then I’d do my nails. read more
