Heidi Klum and Dakota Fanning, in Elie Saab, were just a few of the stars who stepped out for the annual DKMS Linked Against Blood Cancer gala held at NYC's Cipriani Wall Street last night. Solange Knowles, Ashanti, wearing Tony Ward Couture, Nate Berkus, and Vera Wang were also on hand for the charitable function, which honored Heidi. She shared, "As a mother of four, my heart breaks knowing that blood cancer kills more children in the U.S. than any other diseases." To bring further awareness to the cause, Heidi took part in a ceremony that morning to illuminate the Empire State Building in red. Heidi's adding another project to her busy schedule with the announcement that she'll design a collection of baby and kids products called Truly Scrumptious for Babies "R" Us.
Jay-Z hit the red carpet at the reopening of his 40/40 Club in NYC yesterday. He was all smiles for the event, which was his first since welcoming Blue Ivy Carter earlier this month. Jay-Z wrote a song for his daughter and released it just days after her birth, and new mom Beyoncé shared her excitement in a statement posted to her website saying, "we are in heaven." She didn't step out to support Jay-Z at last night's bash, but there were plenty of other famous faces, including Ashanti, Spike Lee, and even Warren Buffett, on hand to congratulate the new dad.
Sleek sophistication was the name of the game for Ashanti as she walked the red carpet donning this golden gal look. Sticking to a palette of subtle pinks and gilded shades, the songstress created a very pulled-together vibe. As for Ashanti's typically more-funky-than-polished multitoned locks? She went for something a bit different with this sweeping, sleek chignon. Are you digging her overall style, or would you have liked to have seen her funkier side come through?

Ashanti looks like she's having a ball in her bronzed and beaded gown. I like how her silver sleeves match her cascading train. It's quite matchy matchy, but do you approve?

Tracy Morgan is a daring choice to trust to host a big event, but last night he took the stage to MC at VH1's Hip Hop Honors in Brooklyn, NY. His buddy Jimmy Fallon also made an appearance, as did Chris Rock, while a basically shirtless Kid Rock hit the red carpet and performed during the show. Mary J. Blige and Ashanti held down the female side of things and Flavor Flav stuck with his old faithful enormous clock necklace and white top hat. Last week it was all about the Divas, but this time the star power and performers were out to honor the 25th anniversary of Def Jam records.

One woman, one 24-hour period, two distinctively different looks. At last night's VH1 Hip-Hop Honors, Ashanti was bewitching with a bit of cool-girl style: sexy curls, a feathered earring, and a devilish smile to top things off. Today, she posed at the Empire State Building with loose waves and glossy lips. Which of these styles do you prefer?
Some pups are born into famous families — like Moose's son, Enzo, both of whom played Eddie on Frasier. Others are discovered, including Papi from Beverly Hills Chihuahua and Nigel, Ashanti's costar in the latest Broadway production of The Wiz.
Abandoned on the streets of Arkansas, Nigel found a temporary home at the Northeast Arkansas Humane Society before he was "discovered" on its website. Acclaimed animal trainer "> Bill Berloni said:
Nigel's headshot called out to me. After thirty years of rescuing dogs for Broadway shows which began with Sandy (who shot to stardom in the original production of Annie), I know talent when I see it. After speaking to the shelter about his personality I knew he had star potential. I predict a great future for him. He is as smart as Sandy with the right amount of Bruiser (from Legally Blonde).
The two attended the aptly named "There's No Place Like Home" dog adoption day over the weekend in NYC, and their play opens June 12. Check out more pictures below.
Halle Berry glowed at the Jenesse Silver Rose Gala in LA yesterday, where she auctioned off a bracelet to support the charity, which fights against domestic violence. She also showed off a new highlighted shorter bob, but soon Halle will be back to one of her classic short-haired looks after she shaves it off for her movie, Nappily Ever After.
