Bel Ami

Stepping outside of the Twilight franchise, Robert Pattinson stars as Georges Duroy, a young soldier sleeping his way into the upper echelon of late 19th century Paris society. On his way to the top, Georges romances many women, including Madeleine (Uma Thurman), Clotilde (Christina Ricci), and Virginie (Kristen Scott Thomas). Despite a beautiful backdrop and cast, Pattinson's performance falls flat, along with the film. The DVD comes with interviews with the main cast and directors Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod.

The Lorax

Danny DeVito voices the titular character from Dr. Seuss's classic children's book in this musical CGI retelling. Zac Efron also lends his vocals to the film as a boy searching for a Truffala tree to win the affections of his dream girl (Taylor Swift). While on his journey, he encounters The Lorax, a furry orange creature dedicated to preserving the once-bountiful land. The message may be pure, but the frenetically paced movie is muddled with too much action and music. Extras include three short films, sing-a-longs, featurettes, and deleted scenes.

Robert Pattinson Handsomely Premieres Bel Ami in Berlin

Robert Pattinson hit the red carpet this evening for the Berlin Film Festival premiere of his Bel Ami.

Robert Pattinson hit the red carpet this evening for the Berlin Film Festival premiere of his Bel Ami. He joined up with leading ladies Holliday Grainger and Christina Ricci in front of the assembled photographers. The trio were out today earlier as well for their Bel Ami press conference. During the morning chat, Robert discussed playing a bad guy in the movie, his character, Georges. Robert also talked about how he's changed since first reading the script and making the movie in 2010, in addition to how the project differs from his Twilight series. Robert said:

  • On why he decided to do the movie: "It's funny, the structure of Bel Ami and the character of Georges really rarely comes up in movies anymore because he's completely unrepentant, and normally a movie has to teach somebody a lesson nowadays. It was quite fun playing that."
  • On how he's changed since shooting the movie in 2010: "I read the script a long time ago. I was pretty young. I think I've changed a little bit. I kind of understood that. You create an empire just so you can sh-- on someone else. I think I've grown up a little bit. I'm not as horrible."
  • On how the audiences should differ from Twilight to Bel Ami: "I guess my responsibility, I think, it's not necessarily to give anything back other than try and do the best work you can. You get an audience for doing certain jobs, so I think the biggest disservice you can do to your audience is trying to repeat the same thing and to come just to get money or whatever. If a Twilight audience would come watch Bel Ami, it's a movie that I wouldn't have thought that audience would go to, so I think that in some way, it's kind of doing a service to someone. I felt like I learned a lot from it."

Robert Pattinson Takes a Seducing Turn in Bel Ami Trailer

It's been over a year since Robert Pattinson shot Bel Ami overseas with a cast including Christina Ricci, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Uma Thurman, and while the film has yet to get a stateside release date there's finally a full-length trailer.

It's been over a year since Robert Pattinson shot Bel Ami overseas with a cast including Christina Ricci, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Uma Thurman, and while the film has yet to get a stateside release date there's finally a full-length trailer. In the movie Robert plays a man who sleeps his way to the top as he rises from humble beginnings. The preview shows a bit of Robert's womanizing ways in the arms of both Christina's and Uma's characters. It's certainly a different side for Robert, though he did have his first post-Twilight hit in the drama Water for Elephants, so perhaps romantic roles will be his strong suit. Are you feeling Robert in this period piece? Check out the Bel Ami trailer below.
