Snitch Trailer: The Rock Becomes an Informant to Help His Son

Dwayne Johnson has just become my favorite vengeance-seeking movie dad — behind Liam Neeson in Taken, obviously. In Snitch, Johnson plays a father who vows to get his falsely imprisoned son (Life Unexpected's Rafi Gavron) exonerated, by any means necessary. He agrees to work with the FBI and infiltrate the violent underworld of drug running, and his connections soon lead to a notorious crime boss (Benjamin Bratt). It becomes clear that if he makes one wrong move, his entire family will be in jeopardy.

I love that Johnson's playing the regular dad with a by-the-books job — who happens to be very skilled at driving in high-speed chases. Susan Sarandon as the FBI agent also elevates the action fare, and I'm moderately curious about Bratt's ability to keep up that surprisingly heavy accent for an entire film. Snitch is set to open on Feb. 22, and you can watch the trailer after the jump.

The GLAAD Awards Bring Out Glee, Drew, and More!

This year's LA GLAAD Awards took place on Saturday night, with stars like Drew Barrymore and Glee's Dianna Agron and Cory Monteith stepping out for the occasion.

This year's LA GLAAD Awards took place on Saturday night, with stars like Drew Barrymore and Glee's Dianna Agron and Cory Monteith stepping out for the occasion. New parents Rebecca Gayheart and Eric Dane left baby Billie at home for one of their first red carpet outings since their daughter's birth last month. Drew Barrymore had her own guy, Justin Long, to cuddle up with backstage after accepting the night's Vanguard Award for her allegiance to the gay community. Recent rumors suggested that the two had called it quits, but the lovebirds are apparently going strong.

The cast of Glee was present to accept their award for best comedy, and Jane Lynch even gave the audience another peek at her Vogue-ing skills — don't forget to enter our giveaway to win the chance to join the show's gang for a photo shoot! Adam Lambert was there to perform for the crowd despite his always busy schedule, which last week included mentoring the contestants on American Idol.

Eva, Salma and Selena Are ALMA Awards Beauties

Salma Hayek, Eva Longoria and Selena Gomez were three of the gorgeous women dressed in their best for the 2009 ALMA Awards in LA last night.

Salma Hayek, Eva Longoria and Selena Gomez were three of the gorgeous women dressed in their best for the 2009 ALMA Awards in LA last night. Eva Longoria showed off tons of costume changes as she played host for the third year in a row and this time was joined by George Lopez. Selena Gomez took home a statue for Television Comedy Actress and twittered about her fun night. Salma Hayek, who totally looked like a blast from her past in the headband and short sexy dress, was honored with the Anthony Quinn Award for General Excellence. Salma's BFF Penelope actually won as well but wasn't in the house to accept. The show airs tonight featuring performances from David Archuleta, Nelly Furtado and more.

    Tribeca Review: Trucker

Trucker largely reminded me of another indie movie titled Come Early Morning, which was written and directed by Chasing Amy's Joey Lauren Adams (who, incidentally, also stars in Trucker).

Trucker largely reminded me of another indie movie titled Come Early Morning, which was written and directed by Chasing Amy's Joey Lauren Adams (who, incidentally, also stars in Trucker). The tone of both movies features a kind of weary, weathered fondness for the southern American landscape (in Come Early Morning it's the South, in Trucker it's the dusty deserts of southern California). At the heart of both movies, too, are hard-edged, tough-talking women in jobs that others in the movie ridicule for not being "women's jobs": Ashley Judd's character in Early Morning worked in construction, while the main character of Diane in Trucker, played by Michelle Monaghan, is a truck driver.

On the surface these two films might blur together in my mind as one unrecognizable narrative of the rough-around-the-edges woman learning to soften and accept love as well as give it. Trucker stands out a bit, though, as a more interesting story, more layered with higher stakes. And while it's not the most memorable movie in general, it's captivating enough and ultimately sends a heartwarming message. To see what I mean, read more

Iron Man Brings Its Happy and Hot Cast to NYC

Michael Kors and the Cinema Society helped bring Iron Man to NYC last night.

Michael Kors and the Cinema Society helped bring Iron Man to NYC last night. Gwyneth has been loving her tiny dresses and sexy photoshoots these days, and this brought it to a new level — yowza, but she looks great. Cannot blame her for l-o-v-i-n-g her legs alongside all her costars and some New York friends. On the red carpet, Gwyneth talked about a possible sequel, "I [am] so happy people are loving it, and getting so excited about it, but the truth is that the experience was so wonderful, and such a happy, happy time. That’s really why I’m so happy that I did it...The idea that there could be another one, and we could get our little family back together — it would be great." From the thrilling action scenes to bringing out the inner geek in all of us (you know it), we can't wait for Iron Man to finally hit theaters this Friday!

Adrien, Petra, and Chloë Are Divining

Adrien, Petra, and Chloë were all out in NYC last night for the premiere of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.

Adrien, Petra, and Chloë were all out in NYC last night for the premiere of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. Petra looked like she was ready for the cabaret, while Adrien was all about quietly slipping his hand into his girlfriend's dress. Scandalous. I guess he was content to let her be the metallic one for the night. Chloë kept her usually daring fashion sense pretty low key last night, and while the color of her dress is nothing to scoff at, we all know what she is capable of. Seriously though, while Petra is one of the few girls who can pull off a fedora, she shouldn't be encouraging people like that.

Movie Preview: Love in the Time of Cholera

This trailer for the film adaptation of Gabriel Garcia Marquez's classic novel Love in the Time of Cholera is high in lush colors and meaningful looks, but low in most anything else.

This trailer for the film adaptation of Gabriel Garcia Marquez's classic novel Love in the Time of Cholera is high in lush colors and meaningful looks, but low in most anything else. I also think this is one example of a voiceover nearly ruining a trailer. I don't think I need the deep, husky voice telling me this is "the greatest love story... ever told." I get it, I get it, now show me some drama and romance!

The story takes place in South America and follows the undying, lifelong love Fiorentino Ariza has for Fermina Daza. At the end of the trailer we find that the movie will feature songs by Shakira, some of which you can hear now at the movie's official MySpace page. I'm kind of digging "Pienso en Ti," a mournful, passionate tune. Love opens November 16. To check out the movie's trailer and then let me know what you think, read more
