Kate Middleton was back to her royal duties this morning following a getaway to Mustique with her husband, Prince William. Stars came out to attend Clive Davis's pre-Grammy party at the Beverly Hilton in LA last night despite the tragic news of Whitney Houston's death yesterday afternoon. Clive, who started Whitney's career and remained close to the singer, asked that guests observe a moment of silence for Whitney during the event and shared, "She loved music and loved this night that celebrated music. Whitney would have asked that the music go on. And her family said the show should go on." Clive was just one of many celebrities who commented on Whitney's death yesterday, including Christina Aguilera and Mariah Carey.
Britney Spears and her fiancé, Jason Trawick, got the annual celebration going, as did Kim Kardashian and Richard Branson, who was honored at the gala. Jennifer Lopez, Diana Ross, Tom Hanks, and others walked the carpet while Diddy, Miranda Lambert, Alicia Keys, and more took the stage during the event. The musical fun is just getting started since the main event, the Grammy Awards, will take place later today with Jennifer Hudson expected to sing a tribute to Whitney.
Jennifer Hudson made a show-stopping entrance in a fitted dress at the launch party for her new album, I Remember Me, at NYC's Tenjune last night. The bash wrapped up a long day for the singer, who was up early to make the morning show rounds. She stopped by Good Morning America to chat up her music and also show off baby David Jr. while he watched from behind the cameras. Her 2-and-a-half-year-old son has been by her side during her promotional tour, which happens to coincide with the current season of American Idol — fitting since Jennifer is one of many stars who got their start as a cast-off from the show.
Many big stars of the music world turned out in LA last night for Clive Davis's annual pre-Grammys party held inside the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Marie Claire covergirl Miley Cyrus cozied up to her pal and So Undercover costar Kelly Osbourne, while Vanessa Minnillo and Nick Lachey stopped to share about their Valentine's Day plans with BuzzSugar. Jennifer Hudson took the stage with performers like Matthew Morrison, who opened up at the bash about the joys of kissing Gwyneth Paltrow on Glee. Gwyneth will make another much-anticipated appearance this evening when she performs a duet with Cee-Lo Green — stay tuned for our coverage of the show, and check out Bella and Fab as well with their love it or hate it polls!
Last night Clive Davis hosted his annual pre-Grammy Salute to Icons with a star-studded crowd in attendance. Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, and Jay-Z were in the audience while Carrie Underwood, the Black Eyed Peas, and Jamie Foxx kept the crowd entertained with some of their Grammy-nominated hits. It's hard to forget how the night before the Grammys ended for Rihanna one year ago, but she smiled big throughout the party with so many of her friends. BuzzSugar is updating live from the big show, so stay tuned and click through to check out all the festivities!
Some of the biggest stars of the music world from all different genres came together in NYC last night to celebrate the launch of VEVO. Justin Timberlake posed with John Mayer, who recently shared his ideas on how to get away with secret texts. Taylor Swift posed in her LBD while Taylor Lautner was elsewhere in the city preparing to host SNL and releasing the first cute promo. Rihanna smiled big after a publicly trying year and perhaps could give some advice to Adam Lambert who has had his share of controversy, though he's been asked to perform on the finale of SYTYCD. Meanwhile, Nick and Mariah just looked smitten as usual.
There was also time for some performances during the party including Bono and Lady Gaga who was a little more toned down than when she met Queen Elizabeth in London the night before. John Mayer also took the stage and hugged Taylor Swift as his new album featuring a duet with the country starlet climbs the charts. Even up-and-comer Justin Bieber got in the fun, posing with Shania Twain. There were a bunch of congratulations to be handed out to the group, many of who were nominated for Grammys last week.
Before the Grammys took over last night, the stars got a chance to get warmed up at Clive Davis's annual pre-party on Saturday night. Whitney Houston gave her all up on stage, along with Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson and Leona Lewis. Chris and Rihanna looked lovey dovey and happy, just a few hours before his shocking alleged assault. Kanye, Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus looked happy to rub elbows and save their voices for Sunday night as the celebs enjoyed their weekend of amazing music.
While Justin Timberlake and T.I. were filming their new music video yesterday, some of the other Grammy performers and nominees were in LA getting ready for the big show. Jennifer Hudson practiced for Saturday night's Clive Davis party, where she'll be performing a duet with a surprise guest before taking the stage again Sunday. Presenter Jack Black tried on a fun hat, while the Jonas brothers — who are up for Best New Artist — signed autographs. Nick Lachey and Jordin Sparks both had smiles on their faces as everyone enjoyed the pre-Grammy celebrations. Don't miss our live red carpet love it or hate it polls and Grammy coverage this Sunday as soon as the festivities begin!
After showing the love for Marc Jacobs at his Fashion Week show, Victoria Beckham cozied up to her designer friend at a party celebrating Jennifer Hudson's upcoming album last night. You're all loving her new super-short hair, and Posh is enjoying her new look too. She said, "I wanted to pull my hair back from my face and have always loved the idea of having a gamine crop. I spent a long time looking at the great fashion haircuts of the 90's and went to Garren, the master of those cuts, to create our modern interpretation of this look. I love it!" Obviously the runway looks aren't only the talk of the town in NYC this week, so be sure to check out Fab and Bella's coverage as well as our blog about all the front row sightings.
