Corey Haim passed away this morning in a Southern California apartment, the cause of death being an apparent overdose. At one time perhaps the biggest heartthrob in the world, Haim struggled with addiction for many years. His mother was with him when he died, and he had been sick the past few days. Known for his work in movies like The Lost Boys, he most recently starred in a short-lived reality TV show with Corey Feldman, The Two Coreys. Our thoughts are with Corey Haim's friends and family.

Back to Cool: License to Drive

If your name were Mercedes in '80s high school, you would have been the talk of the town, too.

If your name were Mercedes in '80s high school, you would have been the talk of the town, too. License to Drive was a favorite Coreys movie, after The Lost Boys, and it was Heather Graham's foray into hot girl status. With her wild, blond, curly locks, Mercedes was absolutely adorable in her denim minis, pumps, party dresses, and jean jackets. No wonder Corey had a crush. With the byline "Some Guys Get All the Brakes," this movie had to be good. So good.

Straight-to-DVD Preview: The Lost Boys Sequel

Once upon a time, the sensational teen duo known as "the Cories" were hot young Hollywood talents.

Once upon a time, the sensational teen duo known as "the Cories" were hot young Hollywood talents. Over the years, though, neither of them have had much of a career, whatever celebrity sparkle they once possessed dulled by both obscurity and stints on reality television.

Given this, you can kind of see why both Corey Feldman and Corey Haim would feel compelled to reprise their roles in the quintessential cult vampire flick of the '80s The Lost Boys in the straight-to-DVD sequel, Lost Boys 2: The Tribe. I just wish they'd directed this need to become relevant again into something else.

In an interview with MTV News, Corey Feldman describes this next installment as the first film "on steroids," by which he means there is "more gore, there's more nudity, which there definitely wasn't in the first film." Ugh. As a fan of the original, I don't understand why the Cories feel the need to ruin my memories with this ridiculousness. To check out the trailer for the DVD, read more

The Coreys Reunite

In a last desperate attempt to revive their careers, teen heart-throbs Corey Haim and Corey Feldman are teaming up for a new comedy.

In a last desperate attempt to revive their careers, teen heart-throbs Corey Haim and Corey Feldman are teaming up for a new comedy. We admit we loved them back in the 80's in The Lost Boys and Dream A Little Dream but we don't read Teen Beat anymore so those days are over. That said, we may have to tune in to see the two of them back together again. Variety reports:

Former teen heartthrobs Corey Feldman and Corey Haim have teamed with RDF USA ("Wife Swap") on "The Coreys," a hybrid improv comedy that would center on fictional versions of themselves a la "Curb Your Enthusiasm."

"The Coreys" picks up with Feldman living the comfortable suburban life with his wife Suzie and son, until circumstances bring his old pal Haim back into the picture. Episodes would follow Haim -- single and the total opposite of Feldman -- as he shakes life up for the Feldmans.

RDF USA exec VP of current/development Greg Goldman said because Feldman and Haim have been friends on and off screen for several years, the chemistry between the two " just pops off the screen."
