Ali Larter Leads the Launch

While some of her fellow Heroes were off celebrating media honors, Ali Larter decided to get a little fancier at the Stormy Weather Jewelry Launch in LA last night.

While some of her fellow Heroes were off celebrating media honors, Ali Larter decided to get a little fancier at the Stormy Weather Jewelry Launch in LA last night. The fireplace and candles make this seem like a pretty intimate affair, and we bet Ali had a lot of fun checking out the jewels (and maybe even scoring some swag). Her on-screen counterpart continued to wreak havoc on last night's episode of Heroes, but off screen Ali was pretty and poised as always.

"Desperate Housewives": Meet the New Neighbors

In true "Desperate Housewives" fashion, the newest family to move to Wisteria Lane is dripping with mystery.

In true "Desperate Housewives" fashion, the newest family to move to Wisteria Lane is dripping with mystery. Actors Nathan Fillion, Dana Delaney and Lyndsy Fonseca recently chatted with TV Guide about their family, one of two new households on the lane this year. Here's what we learned about their characters:

  • Katherine Mayfair, Delaney's character, used to live on Wisteria Lane with her daughter, Dylan (Fonseca), and an aunt, but she moved away 12 years ago under — you guessed it — mysterious circumstances. When she returns, she's with her new husband, Adam (Fillion), a gynecologist with an "unsavory" secret in his professional life.
  • A perfectionist and control freak, Katherine is a rival to Bree; apparently there will literally be a throwdown over lemon meringue pie.
  • Dylan was once friends with Julie Mayer, but she remembers nothing from that time, and the memory loss leads people to suspect something dark in her past; as a teenager, she's kept on a strict schedule, "almost like a dog."

"Desperate Housewives" is also the latest show to get the music video treatment from ABC, with glam scenes of the original five housewives set to the new Jennifer Lopez song "Mile in These Shoes." Is Nathan Fillion Getting "Desperate"?

Fresh off the news that Dana Delaney is in talks to join the cast of "Desperate Housewives," there's some speculation today about who could be playing her character's "much-younger husband" when the family moves to Wisteria Lane.

Fresh off the news that Dana Delaney is in talks to join the cast of "Desperate Housewives," there's some speculation today about who could be playing her character's "much-younger husband" when the family moves to Wisteria Lane. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Nathan Fillion is talking to the network about playing the role.

I was a little late to the Fillion bandwagon, but I loved him in Waitress, and he's still got a ton of fans from his "Firefly" days. Those fans didn't really help out "Drive" this spring, though, so I'm not sure he'd bring a flood of new viewers over to Wisteria Lane. Even in today's cancellation-happy TV world, he and Delaney seem to have an inordinate number of canned shows between them — "Kidnapped," "Related," "Pasadena," "Miss Match." Still, she has an Emmy and he has a following, so maybe together they'd bring a new energy to the show. Lyndsy Fonseca, whom I recognize from a ton of TV guest-starring roles, is reportedly in negotiations to play their daughter.

What do you think? Could Wisteria Lane handle another family? And would Fillion bring any non-"Housewives" fans into the show's fold?

TV Casting Roundup: "Aliens," "Boston Legal," More

Jonesing for a Luke-from-"Gilmore Girls" fix?

  • Jonesing for a Luke-from-"Gilmore Girls" fix? You'll have to tune into the CW's "Aliens in America" this fall to get it. Scott Patterson will play the father on the show, which focuses on the relationship between Christian and Muslim teens in Wisconsin when the Christian boy's family brings the Muslim boy in as an exchange student. Patterson replaces Patrick Breen, who was originally cast in the role.
  • The revolving door continues to spin at the Crane Pool & Schmidt offices: Taraji P. Henson, best known for her role in Hustle and Flow, will join "Boston Legal" as a series regular, playing a lawyer from the firm's New York office. Saffron Burrows also will join the cast, playing a lawyer who once had an affair with James Spader's character. Though they were purged from the show last month, former stars Mark Valley and Rene Auberjonois will appear in a few episodes during the season.

  • Mae Whitman, best known to me as George Michael's girlfriend, Ann, from "Arrested Development," will be replaced as the deaf younger sister in NBC's "Bionic Woman." According to TV Guide, the part also might be rewritten to give the character her hearing back.
  • Wisteria Lane might be getting a new resident: Dana Delaney — who was "Desperate Housewives" creator Marc Cherry's first choice to play Bree — is in talks to join the cast as a woman who moves to town with her much-younger husband and daughter. TV Guide's Michael Ausiello speculates that the character could be Bree's long-lost sister, which sounds crazy to me, but crazy's never stopped "Desperate Housewives" before.
