Bradley Cooper donned a bright blue Helly Hansen windbreaker — and kept his backpack on — to attend a special screening of The Place Beyond the Pines in the upstate New York city of Schenectady. The city is of special importance to Bradley and director Derek Cianfrance, as it's where they spent much of last Summer making the project. It's also the hometown of Derek's wife, Shannon. Stars Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes weren't able to attend the event, though Bradley had the company of another leading man, Emory Cohen, at the city's Bow Tie Cinema.

Bradley traveled to Schenectady, which is about three hours north of NYC, following a vacation in France. Bradley was in Paris with Suki Waterhouse, his new girlfriend, for a few romantic, PDA-filled days. Nonetheless, Bradley was happy to be in Schenectady. He told a local news station last night, "I like the world up here."

Ryan Gosling Finds a Place Beyond the Pines

Ryan Gosling may not have gotten an Oscar nomination for his role in Blue Valentine, but he's still reaping the benefits from the film.

Ryan Gosling may not have gotten an Oscar nomination for his role in Blue Valentine, but he's still reaping the benefits from the film. The actor is reuniting with his Valentine director Derek Cianfrance for his next film, The Place Beyond the Pines.

Gosling will play a motorcycle stunt rider who learns he has a baby, and then starts changing his life to be a father. Cianfrance describes the movie as part crime, part mystery, and says that it will take place over the course of a couple of generations. We've already seen Cianfrance lead Gosling to greatness, so the new film sounds promising to say the least (and let's hope Gosling's ukulele makes an appearance in this as well).

Michelle Williams accented her Christian Dior dress with purple pumps at a screening of Blue Valentine in NYC last night. She's back on the East Coast after spending the weekend in LA, where she met up with best friend Busy Philipps for a playdate with their daughters Matilda and Birdie. Michelle enjoyed the quick break from promoting the film after weeks of walking red carpets and posing at events, but all her hard work has paid off with a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress. Her costar Ryan Gosling, who's looking hot on the January cover of GQ, was also nominated in the Best Actor category, adding to the list of exciting news for the cast following the MPAA's overturning their NC-17 rating.

Ryan Gosling Celebrates Blue Valentine's R and Gushes About "Incredible" Blake Lively

Ryan Gosling posed with his onscreen family, Michelle Williams and Faith Wladyka, as well as their director Derek Cianfrance at a special Blue Valentine luncheon in NYC today.

Ryan Gosling posed with his onscreen family, Michelle Williams and Faith Wladyka, as well as their director Derek Cianfrance at a special Blue Valentine luncheon in NYC today. The event was hosted by The Weinstein Company, and the whole crew had a lot to celebrate since they won their appeal to bring the movie's rating down from NC-17 to R yesterday. Ryan and Michelle have had a full week promoting the film on the East Coast, including at Tuesday's premiere, where Blake Lively was spotted sneaking in the side door. She stuck by Ryan's side for the afterparty, and this afternoon he addressed the rumors of romance. Ryan said of Blake, "She's an incredible actress; she's a good friend," and when asked more generally about relationships in the industry, he quipped, "You're not allowed to have friends in this business." Blake is known for her sexy style, and she earned new respect for her work in The Town, while Ryan's big heart and charm make him so very hot. Not to mention he doesn't take himself too seriously, which makes Blake, whatever their status, a very lucky girl.

Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams, wearing an Azzaro minidress, gazed into each other's eyes and greeted the crowd at a special Museum of Modern Art screening of Blue Valentine in NYC last night. The adorable twosome were joined by their onscreen daughter Faith Wladyka, who got to get glammed up with Ryan and Michelle in Cannes earlier this year, as well as their director Derek Cianfrance. The evening wasn't only for the cast, however, since Blake Lively was spotted quietly sneaking in to check out the film. The Gossip Girl star is no stranger to the city's red carpets, though this appearance will likely bring back up the rumors of a romance between her and Ryan. The two were spied on a Disneyland ice cream date earlier in the Fall, but at that point her rep said they were just friends. Since then, Blake split with Penn Badgley, while Gosling is still swinging single. He's been logging lots of time posing with Michelle Williams to promote their unexpectedly controversial love story, and his eloquence about the NC-17 rating is one of the things that makes him so sexy.

Michelle Williams Celebrates Her Independent Spirit Nod With Kate Winslet and Blue Valentine

Michelle Williams tested out a new look with her Marilyn Monroe hair posing alongside recently single Kate Winslet at a screening of Blue Valentine in NYC last night. Kate's been on the East Coast with her kids for most of the Fall, but soon she'll be joining Matt Damon on the set of Contagion. Michelle and her director Derek Cianfrance had some celebrating to do when the Independent Spirit Awards nominations were announced yesterday and she scored a nod for best actress. Blue Valentine still has an uphill battle after being slapped with a controversial NC-17, which Michelle, Ryan Gosling, and The Weinstein Company have all spoken out about. Still, Michelle has a lot to smile about since her fears the rating would keep her out of the award season running are so far unfounded.

Ryan and Michelle Rise Early For More Blue Valentine Talk

Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams couldn't suppress their smiles this morning during a press conference for Blue Valentine during the Cannes Film Festival.

Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams couldn't suppress their smiles this morning during a press conference for Blue Valentine during the Cannes Film Festival. They've looked thrilled to be together promoting their project so far in France, beaming at their photo call and lavish premiere. Ryan and Michelle look good side by side, and their obvious chemistry has fans wondering if they are a couple off screen as well. A source close to their production says it was romantic when they first met on set, but Ryan's rep claims he's just cozy and comfortable with everyone. It was just one year ago that Ryan and Michelle started working on the movie, and in the meantime they've seen other people — she was still dating Spike Jonze, and Ryan had a short fling of his own in LA.

Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams Make Bright Blue Cannes Valentines

Ryan Gosling squeezed Michelle Williams close at a photo call for Blue Valentine at Cannes this morning.

Ryan Gosling squeezed Michelle Williams close at a photo call for Blue Valentine at Cannes this morning. Michelle's short blond hair stood out in the sun and may have another chance to shine if she actually ends up playing Marilyn Monroe. Mr. Gosling was so stylish right down to his Summery white shoes while she was perfectly precious showing off those stems in high wedges and a short dress. This isn't the first film festival for the adorable onscreen duo, who already made the rounds at Sundance, after which their movie was picked up by the Weinstein Company. They were joined by their pint-sized costar Faith Wladyka, who was lucky enough to get lots of attention from Ryan and even got to try on his sunglasses. There is something amazing about watching Ryan and Michelle's affection for each other, and after falling in love with the movie back in Park City, the Dec. 31 release date can't come soon enough.
