Extraordinary Measures

I feel like a broken record by this point, but Avatar earned the No. 1 spot at the box office again this week, raking in $36 million to add to its growing total. Coming in second place with only half that was Legion, starring Paul Bettany, which debuted with $18.2 million.

Denzel Washington's The Book of Eli followed close behind with $17 million in its second week in theaters, while new family flick The Tooth Fairy saw $14 million. Finishing out the top five was The Lovely Bones with $8.8 million.

Looks like the majority of audiences agreed with you to pass on Extraordinary Measures. The Harrison Ford feel-good movie bowed with a disappointing $7 million for seventh place.

Keri Russell, Harrison Ford, and Brendan Fraser brought their Extraordinary Measures from LA to NYC, where they met up for another red carpet last night. The real-life family on which the movie is based joined the cast for the screening, which made the actors open up about what the film means to them. Keri once again stuck with a black dress and understated makeup, though unfortunately her hot husband isn't much for big events. Gerard Butler was the life of the party on Golden Globes night and looked like he was having a similarly fun time as he went from the screening to the afterparty. Adrien Brody popped by the soirée as well before heading off to Sundance where he'll show off the movie Splice but probably not his abs.

Jessica Simpson joined the stars of Extraordinary Measures last night for their LA premiere. She sported a big bouffant on the red carpet, dressed in black just like Keri Russell. Calista Flockhart sparkled in gold on Harrison Ford's arm, looking happy together following their Sunday of posing at the Golden Globes. Brendan Fraser was on hand to complete the film's trio of actors, and he met up with Keri and Harrison once inside to smile for additional photos. Keri has been hard at work over the last week plugging their film with appearances on both The Early Show and The Late Show, and we'll see if her promotional efforts pay off when the film opens in theaters this Friday.
