And over at Valentino, Nicky Hilton paired her sweet but sexy Valentino frock with Christian Louboutin pumps and a ring from Nicholai by Nicky Hilton. Christian Dior's new cover girl, Mila Kunis, opted for the designer du jour, and Jessica Alba perfected her cocktail attire in a one-shoulder, embellished Lanvin mini. Last night, we got a front-row look at Hollywood's best and brightest dressed in their Oscars best, but across the pond — namely, Milan — Fashion Week is still going strong. There, we're being treated to a different, albeit equally cool, brand of front-row style. It's a mix of zany couture, downtown chic-and-tailored, and the fashion-forward, thanks to the likes of Anna Dello Russo, Chloë Moretz, and Taylor Tomasi Hill. We also spotted Helen Mirren rocking a fierce floral frock at Dolce & Gabbana and Caroline Issa looking too cute in cropped coral trousers on her way into Missoni. We've chatted with Maggie Rizer before, but we once again caught up with the fresh-faced, all-American model who sat front and center at this morning's BCBGMAXAZRIA show alongside Kelly Rowland, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Ashanti. She answered our questions before the show began and revealed her personal style, favorite designers, and what shows she's looking forward to:

FabSugar: How would you describe your personal style?
Maggie Rizer: Eclectic. Artistic but wearable, like I have all-American style but I love Yohji Yamamoto.

FS: Who are some of your favorite designers?
MR: Yohji, again. Nicolas Ghesquiere [of Balenciaga], Anna Sui.

FS: What shows are you looking forward to?
MR: I'm excited to see Rebecca Taylor. It's so pretty!

FS: What projects are you working on, since you're not doing runway anymore?
MR: A few things here and there. I live in San Francisco now with my husband.

FS: We love San Francisco!
MR: Oh me too! It's so beautiful! We go up to Napa, Mendocino.

FS: Pt. Reyes?
MR: Yes, totally. We were just there. My husband is a sailboat racer so we love being near the water.

FS: Are you a sailor too?
MR: No, I'm horrible! I don't like manual labor.

FS: If you weren't a model, what would you be?
MR: I always wanted to be a veterinarian. But I'm really glad I'm a model!

2011 Fall New York Fashion Week: BCBGMAXAZRIA

BCBGMAXAZRIA is the first major show of Fashion Week, and the energy was high this morning.
Runway Review: BCBG Fall 2011 Runway Show 2011-02-10 11:34:37

BCBGMAXAZRIA is the first major show of Fashion Week, and the energy was high this morning. Kelly Rowland, Ashanti, and Maggie Rizer sat front row for a collection that promised to fulfill a "desire for simplicity" while providing "modern elegance." That translated into long, diaphanous dresses, many of which were backless or belted, soft layers, and a mostly neutral palette with a few pops of bright orange and purple. While the longer, looser proportions and turtlenecks didn't make for an overtly sexy show, there was a definite sensuality evoked through the sheer fabrics and the play of layers. FabSugarTV was able to chat with the designer behind the scenes, and here are the main highlights from the show:

  • Trends: Clean, modest sensibility, tissue-thin turtlenecks, sculptural details like sheer panels, asymmetric hems, cutout shoulders, and colorblocking.
  • Colors: Palette of neutrals: cream, beige, and navy, with pops of orange and purple.
  • Key Look: Minimal silk dress worn with a thin turtleneck and boots.
  • Accessories: '70s-style suede and leather boots.
  • Who Would Wear It: Artsy types who crave simplicity and modest sensuality.
