Last night's Met Gala in NYC was star-studded from start to finish. We were right on the red carpet watching as models, actresses, and fashion-world celebrities headed inside to celebrate the Metropolitan Museum of Art's new Punk: Chaos to Couture exhibit in its Costume Institute. Here we recap the biggest highlights from the carpet, including big appearances from Gwyneth Paltrow, Beyoncé Knowles, and Jennifer Lawrence, as well as recaps of our best interviews. On Allie: BCBG shirt and blazer.
The 2013 Met Gala brought plenty of glamorous ladies to NYC last night. Beyoncé Knowles stole the show in a sexy Givenchy Haute Couture number complete with matching boots, while Kristen Stewart donned a lace Stella McCartney ensemble. Cameron Diaz stayed true to the punk theme in a spiked Stella McCartney gown, and Jennifer Lawrence went classic in a black Dior dress.

The 2013 Met Gala best-dressed set could easily be likened to the fashion Olympics, and this year's Punk: Chaos to Couture exhibition turnout made it harder than ever to pick only five gold-medal contenders. Beyoncé Knowles spared no head-turning detail in a custom Givenchy Haute Couture flame-embroidered gown; Gwyneth Paltrow stood out in a covered-up hot pink Valentino number; Rooney Mara played the edgy card in a custom Givenchy Haute Couture gown, complete with floral embroidery, zippers, ruffles, and a split-front opening; Jennifer Lawrence chose ladylike Dior (and that Jennifer Behr netted veil!); and Katie Holmes stunned in a downright ethereal custom Calvin Klein creation. It's a close one, but it's time for you to declare a best-dressed winner of the night.

Gwyneth Paltrow continued her string of red carpet wins at Monday's Costume Institute Benefit, wearing a bold pink gown with a sheer panel from Valentino to escort the designer himself down the famous red carpet. Gwyneth isn't known for indulging in the punk style being celebrated in the the Metropolitan Museum of Art's new Punk: Chaos to Couture exhibit, but she did dress a bit edgier than usual for the occasion. Gwyneth is no stranger to the annual fun at the Met, having also attending the ball in 2012 and 2011. This evening, like last year, she'll be able to mingle with a star-studded crowd that includes her best friend, Beyoncé Knowles. What do you make of Gwyneth's look this evening? Let us know by weighing in on all of our Met Gala fashion polls.
Iron Man 3 star Gwyneth Paltrow opted out of the punk theme, but we're far from disappointed. The blond beauty shone bright in a vibrant pink Valentino gown, which came complete with a modern sheer inset. To polish off her simple yet stunning look, Gwyneth accessorized with Wilfredo Rosado diamond earrings and wore a high ponytail and nude lips. Are you feeling her pretty in (hot) pink ensemble?

Adding to the star-studded excitement, this year's ball celebrates the opening of the Met's Punk: Chaos to Couture exhibit and will be cohosted by Anna Wintour and Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci.
Before the red carpet starts, we're looking back at memorable moments from the fashionable event in years past.
