This literal video isn't made by the originators of this genius concept, but its wonky tribute to the genre is pretty good. The singer's cracking voice plus the crackling audio quality definitely add to the absurdity. (And is it just me, or is James Blunt really beautiful annoying?)

Beyonce Knowles and Jim Carrey headed over to Madrid for the Los 40 Principales award show on Friday night. Beyonce looked lovely in her floor-length black gown but changed into a short little number for her performance. The singer has been all over Europe lately, and made an appearance on the X Factor to sing a duet with the contestant who ended up winning on Saturday. With her nonstop traveling, it looks like Beyonce is ready to take her hardworking nature right into 2009.

Despite early bad weather, the Glastonbury Festival rolled on this weekend with celebrity fans including Kate Moss and Kelly Osbourne out to see performers like John Mayer, Jay-Z and so many more. Amy Winehouse found a way to make new headlines with her despicable behavior including punching a fan in the middle of her performance — more on that and video over on UK Pop — and insulting Kanye on stage. On a brighter note, Jay-Z killed it as the headliner with Beyonce watching from the audience. After Noel Gallagher of Oasis made some disparaging comments about Jay headlining the festival, the rapper was under a lot of pressure to perform. Instead, he took the stage, guitar in hand, and started off his set by singing "Wonderwall" into "99 Problems." "You're Beautiful" is one of those songs you either love or hate — no ifs, ands, or "eh" about it. But if Blunt encountered this dude's girlfriend on the bus, took a fancy to her, and started crooning on and on about her beauty . . . oh hell no. Blunt can sing, but comedian Tom Gleeson can talk a load of sh*t. And that's exactly what he's about to do.

The hot guys (ugh, other than the mustache) stole the show at last night's premiere of P.S. I Love You in LA. It seems like Gerard Butler and Jeffrey Dean Morgan were pretty into each other, too, judging from the red-carpet game of grab ass (love it). Gerard said, "Jeffrey Dean Morgan rubbing my ass, yeah that's about as good as it gets!" Other excitement included the fact that Mary Louise Parker was looking hot on JDM's arm — yay for them being back together. Hilary Swank looked glamorous showing of her new movie, while Gina Gershon was showing off an interesting two-toned hair look, are you loving or hating it? While the previews make me feel like I might cry through the whole movie, I gotta say that I can't resist the Gerard/Jeffrey Dean Morgan duo.

The men kept it pretty boring for last night's American Music Awards in LA. Seriously, not a single color among 'em? It almost makes Taye's business casual khaki pants look daring, almost. Lenny looked sexy, as he does, while Akon was dressed for the tundra. Is it just me or does he look perpetually cold because of those huge jackets? Thankfully the women were there to spice up the red carpet and add some shimmer and shine, because by themselves the men weren't taking any chances. It may have been UK GQ's Men Of The Year Awards last night in London, but it was all eyes on the ladies - some of our favorite supermodels in particular. Helena, Elle and Naomi all looked as smoking hot as they did at the peak of their fame - lucky, lucky. Claudia Schiffer recently said she thinks the Supermodel is dead because of the prevalence of actors/starlets in ads and on magazine covers, but it doesn't feel that way looking at these fabulous stars. Plus, could anyone ever live up to this era of models? Their younger peers are busy making names for themselves at New York Fashion Week but these are some big stilettos to fill.

I can't say James Blunt is my favorite guy on the music scene right now, but as far as his music goes, this new track is not bad. It reminds me of something we might have actually heard on the radio in, well, the 1970s, and in that sense it's pretty interesting.

Much of whether or not you'll enjoy Blunt's music depends on how much you can endure his voice, however, and I tend to reach the threshold of too much James Blunt quickly. Still, I do think "1973" has more promise to not be as totally grating as "You're Beautiful" after the zillionth time.
