Michael Douglas was the man of the evening last night as he received an AFI Lifetime Achievement Award in LA. He hit the red carpet on the arm of his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, while his Ghosts of Girlfriends Past costar Matthew McConaughey brought along Camila Alves. Kiefer Sutherland and Tobey Maguire took the stage to pay tribute to their pal Michael, and Catherine even brought out her Chicago skills for a song-and-dance number in her husband's honor. Michael's been a Hollywood heavyweight for decades, but we'll see more of him on the big screen in the Wall Street sequel and, according to Catherine, a project they're looking to star in together.

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt's frequent photo ops provided inspiration as yet another artist turned her into artwork. Last night the couple headed to a Hollywood art gallery event, "Lights! Camera! Election!," where Heidi showed off an artistic depiction of her ridiculous grocery store poses modeled after the famous Obama "Hope" piece. The couple laughed and smiled their way around the rooms, stopping to kiss countless times for the cameras and imitate a picture of Barbie for president. It's no secret who these two are voting for, but as always the most important campaign is for themselves.

John Legend and Joel Madden were just a few of the stars that came out last night for the Billabong Second Annual Design for Humanity to Benefit Surfrider Foundation in LA. The foundation works to protect our oceans, so naturally eco-friendly Adrian Grenier made an appearance with his girlfriend Isabel Lucas. Adrian's been working overtime to encourage us to go green, kicking off his Alter Eco series last night — check out a clip of the show here. Mischa Barton and Audrina Patridge also came out to show the love for those beaches they spend so much time at, which is a good thing since we know how much these two love to show off their bikini bodies.

Las Vegas got a little bit shinier last night with the opening of Barneys at The Palazzo Resort Hotel Casino. A slew of celebrities came out for the festivities, no doubt some of them stopping there on their way to colder climates at Sundance. Fab's got the info on Christina Ricci's cute navy number while Mandy Moore kept it sexy in black. Jason Lewis took a break from still filming Sex and the City to party in Sin City. Paris and Nicky Hilton were out on the town in LA last night (no surprises here), but lots of other stars came out of the woodwork as well. Benicio del Toro and Russell Crowe were among the A-listers who headed to Mr. Chow for a dinner hosted by filmmaker Julian Schnabel. Somehow we can't imagine that Tim Robbins and Oliver Stone had tons to talk about with Paris, but maybe former bad boy Colin still has a soft spot for socialites. Even though it was a big night out in Hollywood, it seems like everyone managed to behave themselves.

The Golden Globes may not be going on as hoped, but that doesn't mean that the swag suites will all go to waste. Some — sorry guys — not-so-A-Listers were out in LA yesterday at the Kari Feinstein Winter Style Lounge to get their hands on some of the free stuff. Some of the first in line included Entourage's Emmanuelle Chriqui, Rex Lee, and Jeremy Piven. Chuck's Zachary Levi and Joshua Gomez brought a whole new level of meaning to posing fiercely in their fur vests. I'm sure they took those bad boys home. I'm thinking that most of the actual nominees who are boycotting the awards won't be swooping in to snag the swag, but who knows, perhaps the draw of free free free is too much to bear for some.

I have to say, this sounds pretty adorable: Jesse Metcalfe is set to star in a cross-cultural romantic comedy titled The Other End of the Line. The movie follows "an Indian call-center operative who travels to San Francisco to be with a man she has only met over the phone." No word yet on Metcalfe's leading lady.

Producer Ashok Amritraj and his company Hyde Park Entertainment have greenlit the project with high hopes for Hollywood-Asian relations:

"This project was an organic opportunity for my mandate of identifying new and innovative ways to continually bridge the U.S. with the Asian continent and its multiple film markets," Amritraj said. "This high-concept unique story offered Hyde Park a great entertainment platform to increase Hyde Park's foot-print in Asia."

I like Metcalfe okay, but moreover I'm digging the idea of a romantic comedy that's not entirely vanilla with a dash of non-white-best-friends. There are plenty of those in the world — let's get some flavor out there.
