Safe House

Ryan Reynolds stars as Matt Weston, a young CIA agent stationed in South Africa, in this gritty, well-written action film. Matt's been there for over a year waiting to be assigned a prisoner to "take care of" when Tobin Frost (Denzel Washington) shows up. Though the circumstances of his visit are originally murky, Matt soon learns Tobin is a rogue agent, and thus begins a thrilling game in which Matt must question everything he knows to be true. Extras include several making-of featurettes.

John Carter

Taylor Kitsch is John Carter, a Civil War soldier who gets transported to Mars in the big-screen version of the classic book series. Despite the fact that he's on unfamiliar territory, Carter is tasked with saving the planet and its princess, who he falls in love with. The mostly shirtless Kitsch is a commendable leading man, but the plot feels a little stale is this visually stunning feature. The DVD doesn't come with extras, but the Blu-ray/DVD combo includes deleted scenes, a blooper reel, commentary by the filmmakers, and "100 Years in the Making" and "360 Degrees of John Carter" featurettes.

Despite the fact that Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd headlined Wanderlust, the movie didn't even place in the box office's top five in its opening weekend. The number one spot went to political action film Act of Valor, with $24.7 million. It was followed by fellow new release Tyler Perry's Good Deeds, which made $16 million. In No. 3 was Journey 2: The Mysterious Island with $13.5 million, and fourth place went to Safe House with $11.4 million. The Vow rounded out the top five with $10 million, quite a bit above new releases Wanderlust and Gone. Wanderlust only earned $6.6 million for eighth place, while Gone was in ninth with $5 million.

Vanessa Hudgens only had eyes for boyfriend Austin Butler on the carpet at last night's LA premiere of Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. They were joined at the event by her costars Josh Hutcherson, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and a Monique Lhuillier-clad Kristin Davis at Grauman's Chinese Theater. Rachel McAdams doesn't have a role in the film, but her The Vow is coming out soon. She donned a gorgeous Peter Som dress and shirt for the occasion, and later attended the afterparty at The Colony nightclub to pose for pictures with High School Musical buds Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa. The screening was held a week before the movie arrives in theaters next Friday, Feb. 10. The cast has spent a great deal of time together recently. Vanessa, Josh, and the gang were just in Hawaii for a press junket — stay tuned for our chat with them! There were hours free from press duties, though, and Vanessa Hudgens slipped into a bikini for some beach fun with Austin.

Movie Trailers

Josh Hutcherson and Vanessa Hudgens Take a Fantastic Voyage in the Trailer For Journey 2: The Mysterious Island

In Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, the sequel to Journey to the Center of the Earth, Josh Hutcherson is back in the starring role as adventurer Sean Anderson, a young man on an exciting trip of epic proportions.

In Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, the sequel to Journey to the Center of the Earth, Josh Hutcherson is back in the starring role as adventurer Sean Anderson, a young man on an exciting trip of epic proportions. The mission at hand? To find Sean's grandfather Alexander (Michael Caine), a famed explorer who went missing during his journey for Mysterious Island, a place that may be linked to the lost city of Atlantis. To round out the crew of this quest, Sean and his stepfather (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) enlist the help of two tour guides (Luis Guzman and Vanessa Hudgens). After some hijinks and a crazy helicopter crash, the four arrive at Mysterious Island, a fairly utopian and Avatar-looking spot that is also full of dark jungles and terrifying creatures.

While Journey 2: The Mysterious Island looks like a sweet and silly movie, it's definitely geared toward kids. However, I'm down to follow Hutcherson just about anywhere, since I can only think of him as Peeta (his role in the upcoming The Hunger Games). See what you think of the film when you watch the trailer after the jump.
