Katie Holmes got the chance to accept the Max Mara Face of the Future honor at the Crystal + Lucy Awards in LA last night. It was announced that she would be the recipient earlier this year, and she already celebrated the win with a dinner hosted by Max Mara and Vanity Fair on Wednesday. Katie had the support of her parents, Martin and Kathleen, backstage after she took the microphone, and she also made time to pose with bright young star Elle Fanning. Elle and Tom Cruise had their own moment for the cameras when they were snapped together at the Super 8 premiere last week. The Women in Film fundraiser, which was hosted by Bridesmaids funny girl Melissa McCarthy, also brought out Rose McGowan, Annette Bening, and Neil Patrick Harris among others. Annette picked up the Crystal Award for her excellence in film while Neil stepped out for the event just one day after turning 38.
Katie Holmes stepped out in a hot black and white tuxedo to premiere The Decision, the short she made for John Frieda, in NYC last night. The piece is about a woman who "cheats" on her hair colorist, and Katie's own locks looked fantastic as she took the red carpet with the support of fellow stars including Allison Brie and Julie Benz. Bella has Katie's whole tongue-in-cheek film, which also heavily features the actress's favorite accessory, her Valextra. Katie is frequently seen toting the luxury line and her Holmes & Yang just made its first foray into bags by teaming up with Valextra. Katie arrived back on the East Coast in time to spend the day with a friend in the city and of course, she was sporting a big smile and one of her own creations.
The red carpet at last night's American Music Awards in LA last night was packed with daring dresses and glammed-up girls. Fergie took a risk in a Falguni & Shane peacock feathered mini, balancing out her embellished shoulders with minimal makeup. Tangled star Mandy Moore also went short and sequined, while Kelly Osbourne opted for a simple strapless number and big hair. Heidi Klum wore something long and black, as did mom-to-be Pink, who glowed ahead of her highly anticipated performance.
Rihanna matched her red curls with a lacy Elie Saab gown. Sheryl Crow went with a bohemian look, and nominee Katy Perry got decked out in soft pink Badgley Mischka Couture. Miley Cyrus made a statement in white Marchesa with a long train and subtle eyeshadow, looking poised despite her alleged pre-show drama. Zachary Levi and Mandy Moore smiled on the red carpet at last night's LA premiere of Tangled, their upcoming animated version of the classic fairy tale Rapunzel. We caught up with Zach to chat about his excitement on joining the Disney family, and he said it feels "epic" to know that kids will dress as his character for Halloweens to come. Mandy was off to join her dressed-down husband Ryan Adams inside, but she first told us that if she were trapped in a tower for 18 years like her character, she hopes there would at least be WiFi. She and Zach didn't spend much time together while making the movie, but they did record a duet for the soundtrack. They've been promoting it separately as well, with Mandy making a recent solo stop on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

I've been on a quest to find the most kickass female character of all time, but there are a handful of new ladies around the bend that are already suitable for entering the running. This year's crop of Fall TV shows brings with it five female characters with one thing in common: they're all badass in their own right.
Sunday was ABC's turn to bring out their new crop of shows at the TCA in Beverly Hills. Matthew Perry's midseason comedy Mr. Sunshine was one of the first of the day and although it's not planned to premiere until midseason it's one of the most anticipated series — Matthew was hilarious on stage and artfully answered any prying questions about his Friends costars. Perhaps the most talked-about panel was for My Generation, which brought out its extremely attractive cast including Jaime King. The afternoon was time for comedies like Better With You starring adorable Joanna Garcia. She and her onscreen sister Jennifer Finnigan have been friends for years, in fact, Joanna was there when Jennifer met her husband. Joanna joked about planning a wedding in real life and on TV — stay tuned for our exclusive one-on-one interview!
