Twist Your Way to Kaley Cuoco's Coiled Topknot

Just because the topknot trend has been around for a while doesn't mean it has to be boring.

Just because the topknot trend has been around for a while doesn't mean it has to be boring. Just ask Kaley Cuoco. The Big Bang Theory actress added a subtle twist to her topknot at the HSUS Genesis Awards Benefit Gala, creating a folded-over coil with some serious panache.

Re-creating this look is a snap. After misting your hair down with some hair spray for grip, smooth it into a high ponytail. Divide the ponytail into two equal sections and twist them around each other, forming a rope look. Secure the ends with a thin elastic. Pull on the ponytail to thicken it and add some texture before wrapping it around the base of your ponytail. Pin where needed, add some more hair spray, and you'll have a twisted look worthy of a double take.

Look to Try: Kaley Cuoco's Gilded-Edge Manicure

The standard French manicure is practically a beauty faux pas at this point, but Kaley Cuoco showed us how to take a modern spin that's fresh and unexpected.

The standard French manicure is practically a beauty faux pas at this point, but Kaley Cuoco showed us how to take a modern spin that's fresh and unexpected. She went for a bare nail that was accented with a chromatic gold tip. To re-create her look, the key is to start off with a flattering base coat, such as Butter London's Nail Foundation ($19). This subtly tinted polish will hide any imperfections in the nail but still allow your natural nail to show through. Once you apply your base coat, use a metallic gold polish, like Ciaté Sand Dune ($15), to polish the tip. Finish the look with a glossy top coat for a "polished" look.
