Jessica Chastain, Matthew McConaughey, Rachel Weisz, and many more stars celebrated their fellow actors and filmmakers at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards in New York City last night.

Jessica Chastain, Matthew McConaughey, Rachel Weisz, and many more stars celebrated their fellow actors and filmmakers at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards in New York City last night. Matthew, who wore a suit by Dolce&Gabbana, won best supporting actor for his performances in Magic Mike and Bernie while Rachel beat out Jessica — who did triple-duty that night by appearing on the Late Show and attending a screening for Mama in addition to this event — for best actress for her role in The Deep Blue Sea. Rachel's husband Daniel Craig cheered Rachel on from the audience when she won her award.

Jessica's film Zero Dark Thirty was the big winner of the night, earning best director for Kathryn Bigelow and best cinematography for Greg Fraser. Highly-buzzed-about films Les Misérables and Argo missed out altogether. However, those films and their stars will have plenty of chances to scoop up more honors once award season starts up in earnest this week with the People's Choice Awards on Wednesday and the Critic's Choice Awards on Thursday. And don't forget about the Golden Globes, which are this Sunday, and your chance to predict the winners with our special Golden Globes ballot. If you predict the highest number of Golden Globes winners, you could win $1,500 and an iPad Mini!

Zero Dark Thirty Trailer: Jessica Chastain Brings Down bin Laden

Director Kathryn Bigelow has taken on the mighty task of turning the takedown of Osama bin Laden into a feature film, and the first full trailer for Zero Dark Thirty has my heart skipping beats.

Director Kathryn Bigelow has taken on the mighty task of turning the takedown of Osama bin Laden into a feature film, and the first full trailer for Zero Dark Thirty has my heart skipping beats. We already got to see glimpses of stars Jessica Chastain and Kyle Chandler in the film's teaser but this preview gives a better idea of the story. It's definitely going to revolve around the covert operation, but it appears to be giving a more human look at the troops and agents involved, including the emotional toll it takes to be a part of such a massively secretive and dangerous mission.

The trailer briefly introduces us to some of the supporting players, including Chris Pratt, Joel Edgerton, and The Vampire Diaries' Taylor Kinney, but this seems to be Chastain's movie. We don't actually hear her speak in the trailer, but we see her with her head in her hands, a voiceover clarifying, "There is just us, and we are failing."The part that has me on the edge of my seat is the final frame, showing a night-vision shot of the special unit surrounding a compound. The movie is set for a Dec. 19 release, but until then, you can watch the trailer after the jump.

Here's Your First Look at Kathryn Bigelow's New Movie, Zero Dark Thirty

Kathryn Bigelow made history when she became the first woman to win an Oscar for best director for The Hurt Locker, so naturally, we've been impatiently awaiting her next project.

Kathryn Bigelow made history when she became the first woman to win an Oscar for best director for The Hurt Locker, so naturally, we've been impatiently awaiting her next project. Today we finally get our first glimpse of her new movie, Zero Dark Thirty, the premise of which has been kept pretty hush-hush. Now it's become clear that the movie will focus on the hunt for Osama bin Laden, though there's not a ton of footage in this first teaser to go on. In fact, we only see very brief glimpses of stars Jessica Chastain and Kyle Chandler, but I can tell you one thing: it looks every bit as intense as The Hurt Locker.

The film will be released on Dec. 19, but get a taste when you read more

2011 Oscars

The big winners at last night's Oscars went from the star-studded stage right into the press room to speak to assorted reporters about their honors. Melissa Leo was the first actor of the evening to discuss her new gold, though her priority was apologizing for using a curse word during her acceptance speech. Best supporting actor Christian Bale, however, confessed to missing her colorful remark since he was off at the bar with his wife. Other winners like musician Randy Newman and writer Aaron Sorkin also spoke, with The Social Network scribe saying he's going to think long and hard about his next movie project. The Academy Awards' most anticipated honors went to Natalie Portman and Colin Firth, and the Rodarte-clad actress said that her baby was kicking during the musical numbers like Gwyneth Paltrow's "Coming Home." Colin, meanwhile, joked that his invitation to Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding was lost in the mail, and apparently was still itching to celebrate by dancing.

Tom Hanks and Kathryn Bigelow Wake Sleeping Dogs

Ever since The Hurt Locker ran away with the Oscars, there's been mounting anticipation for Kathryn Bigelow's next project.

Ever since The Hurt Locker ran away with the Oscars, there's been mounting anticipation for Kathryn Bigelow's next project. Well, prepare for the buzz to go into overdrive, because the film may be getting its first high-profile actor: Tom Hanks.

Hanks is reportedly eyeing Sleeping Dogs (previously titled Triple Frontier), the story of five men working along the crime-heavy border of Paraguay, Argentina, and Brazil. If Hanks signs on, I wouldn't be surprised if Hollywood's finest leading men start duking it out for the other big roles — apparently Bigelow is already after Johnny Depp as well.

Taylor, Ashton, Demi, and Betty Spread Their Influence at the Lincoln Center

New York City's red carpet wattage for the week isn't only about the Costume Institute Gala — stars stepped out for Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People party at Lincoln Center last night. Taylor Swift wore a LBD for the red carpet before changing into a sparkly silver number to perform and say her thanks for being included on the list. The country star and new face of CoverGirl was also among the Met ball's best dressed and stopped to talk about the flooding in Tennessee at both events. Lea Michele also earned her way there thanks to the success of Glee, Elizabeth Hurley brought a dose of glamour and jack-of-all-trades Neil Patrick Harris suited up — sadly another of the honorees, Robert Pattinson, didn't make the bash.

Ashton Kutcher joked about his powerlessness in getting his minibar restocked before stepping out to pose with Demi Moore and even once with Sarah Palin's daughter Piper inside. Demi was one of the last to arrive at the Costume Gala, but still flashed a beautiful smile on her way in. She looked flawless both nights and by day headed to DC to speak out against child slavery. Also at the Time soiree, Betty White had a break from preparing for this weekend's highly anticipated Saturday Night Live where she'll be hosting with musical guest Jay-Z.

The stars gathered in Washington DC on Saturday night for the White House Correspondents' Dinner, where Jay Leno served as the evening's entertainment when President Obama wasn't cracking up the crowd himself. Jessica Simpson hit the red carpet in a bright yellow dress, while Scarlett Johansson arrived from LA with her politically active twin brother, Hunter. Jessica Alba wrapped up her duties as a Tribeca Film Festival juror to go with her husband Cash Warren, and Kim Kardashian wore her mother's vintage Valentino gown after deciding to put her hair up in a bun.

After the dinner were the post-parties, with the Bloomberg/Vanity Fair bash at the French Ambassador's residence bringing out celebs like Anna Kendrick and Glee's Matthew Morrison. Joe Simpson left Jessica's side to mingle with Jeremy Renner, who was linked to Jess just a few months ago. Jessica expressed her love for Michelle Obama but didn't have much to say about her current romantic status, commenting, "I have some situations that I am feeling out." She moved on to an event sponsored by People to join Gabourey Sidibe. Sex and the City 2's Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, meanwhile, posed together, while Justin Bieber caught up with "his girlfriend" Kim. Jessica managed to avoid a run-in with her ex Tony Romo, who got a head start on the good times Friday night at an event with his girlfriend Candice Crawford and her famous brother, Chace.
