UPDATE: The Jonas Brothers have announced that they are officially breaking up. The boys said it was a "unanimous decision" but also left the door open for a possible reunion down the line. "It's hard to say forever," Nick said, adding, "We're closing a chapter, for sure."
After the Jonas Brothers canceled their tour this month, fans were worried that the band might be headed for a permanent split. However, Joe gave fans new hope last week when he tweeted an encouraging yet vague message yesterday, writing, "Please hold while we get our sh*t together." However, that tweet hasn't erased the endless rumors that have been circulating about the band's possible split. Two weeks ago, the group's spokesman, Jesse Derris, admitted that there was "a deep rift within the band" and that there was a "big disagreement over their music direction."
Earlier this month, People reported that the rift between the former bandmates is "uglier than you think." A source said, "They are not getting along at all," adding that Nick is working on another solo album with his other band, The Administration. "I think this is the beginning of the end," the insider said. However, Joe and Kevin were spotted together at Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood earlier that week with addiction specialist and Cast Recovery founder Mike Bayer. The presence of Mike, who also spent time with Joe last week, fueled rumors that Joe may be seeking treatment and, thus, be the root of the breakup. However, E! News journalist Ken Baker maintained that Joe is "not in rehab."
Before they shut down their tour, the Jonas Brothers didn't show any signs of a looming breakup when they sat down for an interview with Out magazine. After news of the tour cancellation broke, writer Sam Lansky said that the "mood between the boys seemed surprisingly tense" and mentioned that they seemed disjointed when describing their new sound. "Neither Joe nor Kevin seemed particularly enthusiastic in their descriptions of their new musical direction. . . . The sense I got was that it was very important to them that they were taken seriously as a credible rock band," he said.
While the reason may be purely musical, the boys do have other outlets for their talents. Joe and Nick both have solo careers, while Kevin stars in an E! reality show. Also, their official Jonas Brothers Twitter handle, @JonasBrothers, has been deactivated.

Kevin Jonas and Danielle Jonas are expecting a baby! Kevin broke the news to E! News today and revealed that he is "overjoyed." He added, "It's the most exciting thing in my life so far. I'm excited and I'm nervous." The couple have been married since 2009 after dating for nearly two years. In 2012, Danielle stepped into the spotlight when she costarred with Kevin in their hit E! series, Married to Jonas, which follows the couple's everyday lives. Congratulations to the happy couple!
The Jonas Brothers met their match last night on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. The boys stopped by to promote their new album, and the teen heartthrobs got a surprise visit from Sara, aka Fallon's teenage girl character. You may remember Sara from Fallon and Channing Tatum's "Ew" skit last year, but here she goes into full crazy mode, panicking when the Jonas Brothers sign their autographs wrong and requesting a kiss as an apology. It's totally ew-worthy.
Check out the skit after the jump.
Jennifer Lopez wore a bright dress and stuck close to husband Marc Anthony on the red carpet at last night's Hope For Children Gala in NYC. Demi Moore was without her other half, Ashton Kutcher, though he did twitter about being in the Big Apple earlier in the day. Ashton has been busy with rehearsals for Two and a Half Men, though he also made time to stop by the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday. John Legend looked dapper as usual as he made his way into yesterday evening's event at Cipriani. Jennifer also brought her sister Lynda along for the charitable soiree and from there the international star is headed to Europe for more promotional duties on behalf of her album. Now that American Idol is done for the season, Jennifer can focus on her other ventures from her fragrances to her music as well as the Latin singing competition, Q'Viva the Chosen, that she and Marc are working on.
The Jonas Brothers took a break from their Summer tour and hit the field at a charity game in Coney Island, NY, yesterday. Twilight's Ashley Greene was front and center cheering on her rumored boyfriend, Joe. Ashley and Joe are taking their Summer romance to the East Coast after last week's public outing in LA. Joe seems to be moving on from his breakup with Demi Lovato, but that didn't stop him from wishing her a happy 18th birthday.

Starlets in LA had another reason to celebrate last night with the Young Hollywood Awards. The Eclipse gang was well-represented with Nikki Reed, Peter Facinelli, and Ashley Greene, who had her second evening out in a row following Thursday's big Nylon bash. Ashley posed for photos in a revealing cream dress, while her costar Nikki Reed stuck close by Peter Facinelli's side. Peter's wife, Jennie Garth, meanwhile, reconnected with her fellow 90210 actress Jessica Stroup. Nina Dobrev smiled for the cameras during a rare minute away from her Vampire Diaries pal Paul Wesley, as their season finale aired on the CW.
The Jonas brothers also made a cameo at the event to mingle with Rumer Willis and Miley Cyrus's boyfriend, Liam Hemsworth. Once action outside wrapped up, everyone headed into the Ebell theater for the main ceremony. Ashley Greene was presented with the Style Icon statue and shared her five-minute makeover tips. Peter took to the stage to introduce Nikki's Superstar in The Making award, though he already thinks she's a star. Nina also accepted a prize with her Making Their Mark honor. Justin Bieber wasn't able to attend, but he sent a video message thanking his fans for helping to make him Favorite Newcomer.

The stars gathered in Washington DC on Saturday night for the White House Correspondents' Dinner, where Jay Leno served as the evening's entertainment when President Obama wasn't cracking up the crowd himself. Jessica Simpson hit the red carpet in a bright yellow dress, while Scarlett Johansson arrived from LA with her politically active twin brother, Hunter. Jessica Alba wrapped up her duties as a Tribeca Film Festival juror to go with her husband Cash Warren, and Kim Kardashian wore her mother's vintage Valentino gown after deciding to put her hair up in a bun.
After the dinner were the post-parties, with the Bloomberg/Vanity Fair bash at the French Ambassador's residence bringing out celebs like Anna Kendrick and Glee's Matthew Morrison. Joe Simpson left Jessica's side to mingle with Jeremy Renner, who was linked to Jess just a few months ago. Jessica expressed her love for Michelle Obama but didn't have much to say about her current romantic status, commenting, "I have some situations that I am feeling out." She moved on to an event sponsored by People to join Gabourey Sidibe. Sex and the City 2's Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, meanwhile, posed together, while Justin Bieber caught up with "his girlfriend" Kim. Jessica managed to avoid a run-in with her ex Tony Romo, who got a head start on the good times Friday night at an event with his girlfriend Candice Crawford and her famous brother, Chace.
