Spring is here, which means ready or not, here comes wedding season! Whether you're collecting invites from your friends tying the knot or prepping for your own big day, the next few months will be full of I dos. And we're already seeing a fresh crop of celebrity engagements with the season of love on our heels. Alec Baldwin and Seann William Scott have just announced their prospective engagements, and rumors have been swirling that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are engaged. We have to say we're suckers for the sweet stories and tidbits from newly engaged couples (along with the glimpse at the bling!), and the best part may be hearing how the fella, or lady, popped the question. We've rounded up some of the cutest and funniest proposal stories from the famous guys who did the proposing and lived to tell the tale. Check 'em out now!
In last night's Kourtney & Kim Take New York, we begin to see more of why Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries's marriage was so short-lived. Their arguments in the episode revolve around children and their different concepts of where and how to raise a family. They initially agree they both want to have kids, although it doesn't look like they're excited about it. Then once they start actually talking about the realities of raising a family, Kris gets more gung-ho about having them right away while Kim goes the opposite direction, deciding for herself that she's not ready for children and leaving her husband in the dark.
I can't think of bigger decisions than those regarding careers, where you're going to live, and whether or not you're going to have children. So it's amazing that Kim and Kris hadn't broached these subjects before tying the knot. With differing opinions on all three of those hot-button topics, it's no wonder they didn't work out. Watch the clip below and tell me: in your relationship are there any big life decisions you had to compromise on?
Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries's 72-day marriage was the latest short celebrity marriage, and it will surely not be the last. And while you may not see the connection between quickie celeb divorces and gay marriage, some supporters of same-sex marriage are using Kim's short-lived romance for their cause.
The argument is that opponents of gay marriage say homosexual couples "cheapen" the sanctity of marriage, but those in support of gay marriage — including same-sex couples who have been together for decades — are fighting back by saying heterosexual couples that only stay married for months are the ones who cheapen the institution.
I see their point, and I'd agree that quickie marriages are damaging and shouldn't be glorified, but this argument is a little shaky. The last thing we'd want is a battle of who has the better and longer relationships, gay couples or heterosexual couples? What do you think?
More than a handful of people may be able to say they saw the Kim Kardashian divorce news coming, but her now-estranged husband Kris Humphries might not be one of them.
Kris Humphries responded to the split today, and in a statement said, "I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce. I'm committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents, and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make it work."
It seems hard to believe that Kris would be unaware of his wife's plans considering all the recent rumors flying about their relationship. However, he and Kim may have been used to dealing with untruths about their union. Tell us what you think — do you believe Kris didn't know the breakup was coming?
"I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don't work out as planned," Kim Kardashian said in a statement today following her decision to file for divorce from Kris Humphries. The reality-TV star and her NBA ex fell quite short of forever, making it through only 72 days of marriage together. Kim isn't the only celebrity to figure out that her marriage wasn't meant to be soon after the wedding. When it comes to short-lived marriages, she's in good company. Take a look back at 15 brief celebrity marriages now.
Update: Kim released a statement about the divorce saying "I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision, I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best."
That was fast! Kim Kardashian will file for divorce today from Kris Humphries. The couple has been married for 72 days. Ryan Seacrest confirmed that the story is true. Ryan tweeted, "Yes, Kim Kardashian is filing for divorce this morning. I touched base with her, getting a statement in just a few minutes."
There have been persistent rumors about the state of Kim and Kris's union, but, at a Halloween party over the weekend, she said that things were going just fine. However, she's apparently hired LA lawyer Laura Wasser to represent her during the split, which should go smoothly considering there was a prenup in place. Married for just over two months, Kim and Kris were also able to renew their vows before the breakup. Kim's now in Australia for work and will be able to keep her mind off her personal life by attending a launch of one of her many collections in Sydney.
Kim Kardashian will file for divorce today after just 72 days as a newlywed. She and Kris Humphries tied the knot in Montecito in August after getting engaged in May. It was a whirlwind of wedding planning, from cake tasting and dress fittings to her bachelorette party and a tropical getaway leading up to the big day. They had even more on their plate as they moved to NYC after the nuptials and taped a new season of Kourtney and Kim Take New York. As more details come to light about Kim's decision to end the marriage, let's take a look back at the duo in happier times.
Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries married on August 20th, and a mere 72 days later, they're set to divorce!
Their over-the-top wedding still made for an amazing TV special on E! that aired over two nights earlier this month. The couple event went on to renew their vows ahead of the special small-screen event. Kim and Kris managed to pack a lot of living and partying into their two month marriage, and as it ends, take a look back at where it all began with their famous friends like Ryan Seacrest, Eva Longoria, and more.
