Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore are a daughter and mother striving to connect with their friends, romantic interests, and each other in this American take on a popular French film. Lola (Cyrus) is stuck nursing a heartbreak but soon discovers that the love of her life may be right in front of her, in the form of her rocker best friend (Douglas Booth). LOL may be a great pick for fans of Cyrus, but more seasoned moviegoers might be disappointed in the film's lack of charm and flat, somewhat insulting, characters. DVD extras include commentary with the director, Lisa Azuelos and three featurettes, including "The Cast of LOL."
The Hunger Games' Josh Hutcherson stars as Clapton Davis, a student who just wants to survive his senior year. Unfortunately, Davis has more than his SAT scores to look out for. A slasher killer is on the loose at his high school, and it's up to Clapton to stop him. Horror/comedy mashup Detention is jam-packed with time travel, body swapping, and, of course, romance — all with the clock ticking down to the apocalypse. The DVD comes with a making-of featurette.

Welcome to a new month! May reminds us that we haven't bought anything for Mother's Day yet, and the end of April showers presumably brings flowers, but mostly May is awesome because it means Summer movie season has arrived. All right, if you want to be a stickler about it, Summer actually starts in June, but with blockbusters like The Avengers, Battleship, and Men in Black III opening this month, as far as we're concerned, Summer is in the building. LOL, the new movie starring Miley Cyrus, Ashley Greene, and Demi Moore, opens this Friday, May 4, but before you run out and see it, check out all the cool onscreen fashions. Miley's character Lola is casual and cool — she loves ripped jeans, cozy sweaters, and colorful jewelry. Ashley's character is a bit more funky, while Demi's Anne is classic chic. Step inside to see and shop some of their standout onscreen pieces before you catch the flick.
In LOL, Miley Cyrus stars as Lola, who goes by the nickname of "Lol," so the title isn't just reflective of her generation's love for and reliance on technology. But cell phones, IMs, and texting do play a big part here, as Lola and her friends navigate high school and its profusion of boys and partying. Of course, no high school movie is complete without a disapproving parent, and Lola's mom (Demi Moore) certainly doesn't endorse Lola's misbehavior, which includes failing her classes. Lola eventually gets to go to France for some reason, and things with her mom start to look up.
LOL in general seems achingly cheesy (it's not helped by voice-over lines like "she's at that special age when hearts are broken"). That said, I probably would have liked it when I was Lola's age; the trailer is bubbly and light, and worth it to watch for the costume changes and man candy (and to see if you can pick out the very brief glimpse of Ashley Greene). There's no release date set yet, but you can watch the trailer after the break.

Miley Cyrus and Ashley Greene cracked up as they filmed LOL in the rain in France, Matt Lanter went shirtless on the 90210 set, and January Jones debuted her superhero style at work on X Men: First Class in England. Ashley Greene and Miley Cyrus traveled to Paris for a long weekend filming LOL in the city of love. The girls looked like they were having a blast at work, checking out the sights and filming the romantic scenes. Ashley and her costars splashed around in the famous Trocadero fountain, Miley kissed her leading man in front of the Eiffel Tower, and the whole group took a boat ride down the Seine. Enamored with the beautiful French decorating, Ashley twittered about wanting to recreate her hotel room back home in California. It wasn't all work and tourist time, as Ashley and Miley let loose with an evening of clubbing on Saturday.
The twosome hit up the hotspot, VIP Room, where they danced the night away. Miley's moves have gotten her in hot water before, but this time the 17 year old just sucked on a lollipop and hung out with Ashley. They were up bright and early on Sunday to get back to shooting and Ashley twittered "that's a picture wrap!" just a few minutes ago. Miley's recently single, but if Ashley is looking to catch up with her boyfriend Joe Jonas, his tour is conveniently in her home state of Florida for the next few days.
