Marion Cotillard and Colin Firth Celebrate Chopard After $1 Million Robbery

Marion Cotillard donned a strapless Vivienne Westwood gown to join Colin Firth at the Chopard lunch as part of the festivities for the Cannes Film Festival today. Marion and Colin celebrated the jewelry brand, which is responsible for creating the festival's Palme d'Or trophy, as well as best actor and actress awards. The celebratory lunch comes at an interesting time for the brand since it was revealed that $1 million worth of Chopard jewels were stolen from a hotel room in Cannes last night. The jewelry was to be loaned as red carpet pieces to the stars at the festival. Many drew comparisons between last night's burglary and the film, The Bling Ring, which coincidentally debuted at the festival yesterday, since the movie is based on the real-life case of teenage burglars who robbed the Hollywood homes of celebrities.

Nicole Kidman, Carey Mulligan, and Julianne Moore are the latest in a long list of fashion darlings and actresses to take Raf Simons from the runway to the red carpet. Ever since Belgian designer Simons, formerly of Jil Sander, took the reins at the legendary label, he's presented five exquisite collections. Naturally, stars like Cotillard (the face of Lady Dior) and Jennifer Lawrence (the face of Miss Dior handbags) have flocked to his jaw-dropping gowns, and we can totally see why. Simons is breathing new life into the design house by taking iconic past-collection references (think New Look from the 1940s) and updating them with a modern twist. What It's Really Like on the Met Gala Red Carpet

Our position on the red carpet at last night's Met Gala afforded the chance to observe what really takes place on the storied red carpet!

Our position on the red carpet at last night's Met Gala afforded the chance to observe what really takes place on the storied red carpet! It was model, designer, and actor madness as guests headed in to celebrate the opening of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute exhibit Punk: Chaos to Couture.

Veteran attendees Gisele Bündchen and her husband, Tom Brady, shared a run-in with first-timer Kim Kardashian on the carpet, while a Valentino-clad Gwyneth Paltrow caught up with her good friend Jessica Seinfeld. Kristen Stewart wasn't bothered by the stars like Sarah Jessica Parker and Jessica Biel mingling outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art, though her pal Jennifer Lawrence did do a bit of socializing with her fellow Dior spokesperson Marion Cotillard.

There were many other candid moments we captured last night — in addition to seeing the best Met Gala fashion pictures, click through to see our first-person snaps!

Marion Cotillard took to the red carpet today in Japan for the Tokyo premiere of her film Rust and Bone. Marion also debuted her edgy new fringe haircut at the event, where the actress received a bouquet of flowers and spoke to the crowd before the film's screening.

Marion chose a strapless floral dress from Christian Dior's pre-Fall 2013 collection for the occasion, which is fitting since she is the face of Lady Dior. Marion has been linked to the French label since 2008, but this time around, she got hands on with handbags. Dior released a behind-the-scenes video of Marion's creative process while designing her very own carryall, called the 360° Bag.

Marion Cotillard went with a sleek, modern look at the Rust & Bone premiere in Tokyo yesterday, wearing her hair stick-straight and debuting short, blunt fringe. To get this low-volume look, sidestep the mousse and use a silkening serum like Kenra Shine Serum ($18) for a high-gloss blowout. Then, go over with a flat iron to smooth strands. Finally, use a touch of styling wax on your fingers to style parted bangs for an added edge. Marion completed her look with sparkling copper shadow and a glossy salmon lip color.
