Kate Winslet picked up her daughter, Mia, and son, Joe, from school in NYC yesterday. The actress has apparently split from Louis Dowler, the British model she began dating after her March breakup from Joe's dad, director Sam Mendes. Kate and Louis were serious enough to take their romance public and travel the globe during their months together, but the actress reportedly initiated the breakup in order to stay focused on her kids. She's been spending lots of time with Joe and Mia this Fall, taking them trick-or-treating and to and from school. Kate also has plenty of other new beginnings to look forward to in 2011, with her miniseries Mildred Pierce airing in the Spring and a starring role in Roman Polanski's upcoming project.

The actress has been spending lots of time with Mia and her son, Joe, lately, and she even wore a costume of her own to celebrate Halloween on Sunday. She split from Joe's dad and Mia's stepfather, Sam Mendes, in March, but they still team up for important parenting duties. Kate has moved on romantically with new guy Louis Dowler, who was on hand to help her celebrate her 35th birthday last month. Kate's enjoyed a brief break from work to tour the world with Louis, but she's filling her schedule for 2011 starting with her lead role in Roman Polanski's new film.

She stepped out in the city with boyfriend Louis Dowler on Monday after returning from their travels to Madrid where they showed plenty of PDA. They've been constant companions during Kate's downtime from work, though she'll soon have to juggle both her new man and projects. She'll star alongside Christoph Waltz and Jodie Foster in God of Carnage and her HBO miniseries, Mildred Pierce, will hit the small screen early next year.

Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes continued to put on a united front this morning as they left the apartment they formerly shared in NYC to take their kids Mia and Joe to school. The estranged couple was also spotted near the home yesterday, as they try to keep things as normal as possible for the children. Kate's said to be interested in moving and reportedly has put the place on the market, but she can't go too far just yet since she's scheduled to stay in the Big Apple for the next few months to work on Mildred Pierce.

Kate Winslet's back in NYC following her bikini-filled vacation in Mexico, and on Friday she hopped out of a taxi in front of her apartment while chatting on her cell phone. She was without her wedding ring now that she and Sam Mendes have split, and Kate's finger was also bare Saturday as she headed out with her daughter Mia. You guys were less surprised by her and Sam's relationship troubles than Sandra Bullock and Jesse James's, and Kate's apparently doing OK despite the big changes. Her sister gave an interview in which she said Kate's "fine," but she's apparently desperate to move out of the apartment she and Sam shared with the kids. Kate can't make any sudden moves, though, since production on Mildred Pierce starts soon in the Big Apple.

Kate Winslet was on school run duty Tuesday as she picked up kids Mia and Joe in NYC. She's enjoying a little break between projects as she spends time in the Big Apple with her kids, though Kate is rumored to be attached to an upcoming project for HBO. She may be chilling out, but her legal team has been working overtime to secure her a victory in a libel suit against the Daily Mail newspaper. Hopefully Kate had a spare minute to put in a birthday phone call to her good friend Leonardo DiCaprio — he just turned 35 and we celebrated with a walk down memory lane.
