Ellen Pompeo and Katherine Heigl bundled up their daughters, Stella Ivery and Naleigh Kelley, and met for lunch at LA's Cliff's Edge restaurant on Saturday. It was a happy reunion for the former Grey's Anatomy costars, who are both balancing life in front of the cameras in addition to raising toddlers. It's been nearly two years since Katherine's departure from the doctor drama, and she's since gone on to star in several big-screen projects including her upcoming New Year's Eve. The film hits theaters Dec. 9, and, according to Katherine, her make-out scenes with Jon Bon Jovi were "nerve-wracking."
Meanwhile, Ellen and the surgeons at Seattle Grace are up to their elbows with trauma. Ellen's character Meredith is still working out the kinks of her marriage with Derek, Patrick Dempsey, and the rest of the staff is dealing with OR emergencies, an unfortunate death, and relationship woes — don't forget you can stay up-to-date with all the good-looking doctors by following Buzz's weekly Grey's Anatomy recap!
Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley had little Naleigh by their side as they boarded a flight at an airport in Merced, CA on Friday. Josh has been making the promotional rounds lately to support his new country-tinged album Georgia Clay, and he had his guitar in hand as the family made their way across the tarmac together. Katherine has been taking a bit of a break from work since filming New Year's Eve late last year, but will be back on set shortly as she begins filming opposite Robert De Niro, Amanda Seyfried, and Topher Grace in Gently Down the Stream, a family comedy about a divorced couple who pretends to be married for the sake of their newly engaged son. She's also signed on for a role on the small screen in HBO's upcoming The Knitting Circle, but for the moment has been enjoying lots of outings with Naleigh, as well as her mother, Nancy.
Katherine Heigl pushed her new short hair back behind her sunglasses yesterday when she headed out to visit her mother Nancy's home in LA with her young daughter, Naleigh. Nancy was able to go along with Katherine and her husband, Josh, on a recent Florida vacation, where the actress showed off a range of bikinis. The Kelley-Heigl gang got back to California last week, as Josh had to do interviews to support the release of his new album, Georgia Clay. He spoke about the musical atmosphere in his household and Naleigh's evolving tastes, saying, "She loves it when I sing — if I'm playing the piano or guitar, she'll come over and sing with me . . . She's a really smart girl. She'll come over and strum my guitar and even sing in the right key."
Katherine Heigl left her NYC hotel with her Valentine, Naleigh, on Saturday. The movie star mom has been focused on another holiday, though, as she shoots New Year's Eve in the Big Apple. Katherine was a late addition to the cast and stepped in to take over for Halle Berry, who left the project to focus on her custody battle with ex Gabriel Aubry. Katherine's film is nonetheless packed with celebs, including Zac Efron, Jessica Biel, and newly single Sienna Miller. It will also reunite her with her Killers costar Ashton Kutcher. Katherine and Ashton's collaboration didn't fare too well with audiences, but he enjoyed a big box office success with his latest comedy No Strings Attached.
Katherine Heigl and her daughter Naleigh Kelley gracefully pose in a loving embrace on the December cover of W. The issue celebrates many different types of celebrity families from those with many kids to couples preparing for their first. Following last month's nude Kim Kardashian shoot, model Miranda Kerr is photograhed naked inside the magazine to honor her pregnancy with husband Orlando Bloom. She talks about future career plans and keeping the sex of her unborn child a surprise. Usher, Madonna, and Katherine also open up about parenthood and what the bonds with their sons and daughters mean to them — check out the slideshow of gorgeous images. Read the full interview on W's site. Here are the highlights:
- Miranda on starting a family: "For me, family is life . . . The decision to start one wasn't complex at all . . . My career has been wonderful, but it's not my life. I don't feel pressure to get back to work. My goal involves a hammock, a vegetable patch, and a solar-powered house. And I hope to eventually get there."
- Katherine on adopting Naleigh: "Three or four days before I traveled to Atlanta to shoot Life as We Know It, I became Naleigh's mother . . . I was about to play a woman who inherits a baby, and I was experiencing the same things as my character. I didn't really want to let Naleigh out of my sight, but it's not terribly realistic to have a baby in a trailer 12 to 14 hours a day."
- Katherine on adapting to having a child: "I knew there was no way in hell I was going to get rid of any of my dogs to make room for a baby. Naleigh loves them. Sometimes it reminds me of The Jungle Book. I'm like, Oh, my God — she's being raised by animals."

Katherine Heigl and her daughter Naleigh, who was cute as a button in leopard print, held hands leaving a library in LA yesterday. Katherine wrapped up her promotional duties for Life as We Know It earlier this month and despite Utah being home base these days, she's been spending time in California with her family. Katherine and husband Josh Kelley recently made headlines when a romantic night in their hot tub ended with the cops being called on the couple. She greeted them at the door in her most "ridiculous" bikini, though most of you agree it wasn't a big deal.
A newly blond again Katherine Heigl carried daughter Naleigh through LAX to catch their flight out on Friday. Katherine was in town to attend a charity event for the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation for animals, which she started with her mom, Nancy, in her late brother's honor. Katherine pledged to give $1 million to animal shelters during the event, and she's doing her part at home too with six adopted dogs. She, husband Josh Kelley, and Naleigh recently moved to Utah but the actress is still working hard in Hollywood. Her latest project, Life As We Know It, coming out Oct. 8 and Buzz has an exclusive clip of her cute chemistry with Josh Duhamel.
Hollywood is the land of physical and fashionable perfection, but does that pressure translate to celebrity moms and their tots? Katherine Heigl is the Harper's Bazaar June cover girl, and in the interview that accompanies her stunning photographs, the mother talks about the open heart surgery her daughter, Naleigh, underwent before leaving her native Korea. She also mentions how it affects the 18-month-old's wardrobe options. The actress said:
Her heart is 100 percent fine now. She has a scar, so she won’t be wearing bikinis, which is fine by us.
Do you think referencing the swimwear limitation was odd or ordinary?
Katherine Heigl wore a flowy dress last Friday to shop in LA with her mom, sister, and daughter Naleigh. Little Naleigh was already showing off her walking skills, and she also expertly picked out a pair of socks to purchase. Katherine's weekend of fun didn't stop there, as she also enjoyed dinner and a movie with Josh Kelley and TR Knight on Sunday. She's getting in as much quality time with loved ones as possible before heading out to promote her Killers later this month. Katherine will be joined by her very influential costar Ashton Kutcher, who's sure to tweet updates and pictures of their adventures before the June 4 opening.
