Shia LaBeouf's Short — Directorial Success or Disturbing?

Shia LaBeouf released his latest directorial effort in the form of a short film he created for the band Future Unlimited's song "Haunted Love."

Shia LaBeouf released his latest directorial effort in the form of a short film he created for the band Future Unlimited's song "Haunted Love." The band's singer, David Miller, is featured alongside Shia's real-life love, Mia Goth. Shia himself stars opposite Mia in their upcoming project, Nymphomaniac, which was directed by the provocative Danish filmmaker Lars von Trier. Shia told The New York Times that Lars made casting the short "quiet easy" and that he "found a very special actress in Mia Goth. I pitched it to her on set. She agreed."

Shia's latest task as director takes a gory and somewhat disturbing turn involving eerie scenes of blood and death. Watch Shia's new short and tell us what you think — do you applaud him for taking risks behind the camera, or is it just too bloody to watch?

Jay-Z Releases "Open Letter" Song to Critics — Good Song, or Bad PR?

Jay-Z released the new song "Open Letter" today on his website, Life + Times.

Jay-Z released the new song "Open Letter" today on his website, Life + Times. The message of the song is clear — he was not thrilled that various politicians wanted to launch an investigation into his fifth wedding anniversary trip with wife Beyoncé Knowles to Cuba, which, as it turns out, was approved by the US Treasury Department. In the song, which was coproduced by his friends Swizz Beatz and Timbaland, Jay raps about his critics, "They wanna give me jail time and a fine. Fine! Let me commit a real crime."

And Jay's aggressive lyrics don't stop there. He takes on critics of his work in the sports field, too. Jay is launching a sports agency, an endeavor that necessitates him selling his interest in the Brooklyn Nets in order to take on athletes as clients. Jay's involvement with the team has been a lightning rod of controversy, with onlookers wondering what exactly he was getting out of being a minority owner. In "Open Letter," he raps, "I would have moved the Nets to Brooklyn for free, except I made millions off you f-cking dweebs." Clearly, Jay had a lot to get off his chest, and this track afforded him the opportunity to do so. We're curious what you make of "Open Letter" — is it a great song as far as you're concerned, or a bad PR move because of the message?

The ad, which is called "Mirrors" features a snippet of her new song "Grown Woman" and shows Beyoncé encountering older versions of herself in a mirror — and squaring off in a dance battle with them. Some of the "mirrored" visions include fan favorites like Destiny's Child's "Bootylicious" look and a costume from the singer's iconic "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" music video. The new video couldn't come at a better time, as today marks Beyoncé and Jay-Z's five-year wedding anniversary — be sure to check out Beyoncé and Jay-Z's cutest moments after you've watched the Pepsi spot.

Some fans were hoping for something a bit bigger than a Pepsi ad, especially because today's 4/4 and Beyoncé loves the number four. The new commercial, though, will surely be a welcome treat to Bey fanatics. Tell us what you think — was there too much hype for this commercial, or just enough?
