Prince Harry had a busy time in Nottingham, England today, making three special royal appearances. First, Harry visited brain injury survivors at the Bradbury House, the new location for the brain injury association, where he donned blackout goggles, put his hand in gloves, and tried to change a fake baby's diapers while holding a weight in one hand, all in an effort to experience the physical limitations of brain injury victims. Harry then put on different gloves to hop in a ring at the KK Boxing Club with a few young boys before heading off to play DJ and present an in-house television show during a separate stop at the Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies.
Harry has been increasing his royal duties ever since he returned from his tour in Afghanistan. He attended the London Marathon on Sunday, despite worries that it would be a security target after the Boston Marathon bombings. He will also be making a trip to the US in May, visiting Colorado, Washington DC, and New York on behalf of the charities and foundation he runs alongside Prince William and Kate Middleton, who showed off her baby bump yesterday at her own royal engagement. Harry will meet up with his brother and the Duchess very soon, as they are all slated to appear at the inauguration of Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden tomorrow.
Prince Harry showed his support when he attended the London Marathon yesterday, less than a week after the tragic Boston Marathon bombing shook America and the international community. He was already scheduled to make an appearance at the event, which drew 36,000 runners, and told reporters that missing the marathon was "never an option." Prince Harry said, "The way Boston has dealt with [the bombing] has been absolutely remarkable." The memory of the Boston victims was not forgotten as runners observed a 30-second moment of silence before the race began.
Prince Harry did get a chance to show off his famous sense of humor, joking to volunteers that Prince William and sport-loving Kate Middleton couldn't attend the event because "she's pregnant and he's getting old." In reality, the duchess couldn't drop by the marathon because she was attending the National Review of Queen's Scouts at Windsor Castle, where Kate Middleton showed her baby bump in a mint-green coat. While at the marathon, Harry met up with Sir Richard Branson, who was a sponsor for the annual celebration, and friend Isabella Calthorpe, who is the sister of Harry's girlfriend, Cressida Bonas, and the daughter-in-law of Richard. Isabella is no stranger to hanging out with royals as she was reportedly Prince William's object of affection before he married Kate. Marathons and chatting up his sister's family aside, it's been a busy weekend for Harry since he also announced Friday that he will participate in a race to the South Pole in November.

Prince Harry teamed up with Walking With The Wounded this morning to announce their 2013 South Pole Challenge. A longtime supporter of the organization, which aims to retrain and reeducate wounded service-people to help them find employment, Harry had a special announcement to make today — Harry will participate in a race to the South Pole with a team from Walking With The Wounded in November and December this year! Harry's squad will compete against teams from organizations in other counties, including the United States.
In declaring his news, Harry was already getting competitive with the other organizations. He said, "It just remains for me to say to Soldier On Canada, Soldiers to Summits from the US, and Soldier On Australia — welcome to the party. As a member of the British team, I will have a brew ready for you when you join us at the Pole." During the event, Harry was photographed sharing a laugh with blind former soldier Ivan Castro. Harry, a serviceman himself, competed with Walking With The Wounded two years ago when they forayed to the North Pole.
Prince Harry has another big public appearance on the way. The young royal is an official patron of the London Marathon Charitable Trust, and he has signed on to appear at this year's marathon on April 21. But this is only one of many stops he's lined up recently. Watch for the details on where we'll see Prince Harry next — will these charitable events help curb some of his party-boy rep?
