TV Tonight: "Brothers & Sisters"

I haven't written much about "Brothers & Sisters," but over the course of its first season, it's become a show I can't wait to watch every Sunday.

I haven't written much about "Brothers & Sisters," but over the course of its first season, it's become a show I can't wait to watch every Sunday. The show has only gotten stronger over the past few episodes, with the introduction of Emily VanCamp (formerly of "Everwood") as the Walker family's previously unknown half-sibling. Sally Field is delightfully inappropriate as matriarch Nora, and I'm amazed at the show's ability to juggle a number of plot lines (at least one per member of the Walker clan) without getting too overwhelming.

I'm especially intrigued by tonight's episode because of the cliffhanger set up a couple of weeks ago: Rebecca claimed that her half-sister Sarah's husband, Joe, kissed her during a guitar lesson. The kiss wasn't shown on TV, and I'm not sure if Rebecca's story is true; regardless, it's certain to put even more stress on Joe and Sarah's already screwed-up marriage. But "Brothers & Sisters" always throws a lot of lighter moments in among the heavy stuff, and this episode should be no exception: To see a cute scene of Calista Flockhart's character, Kitty, giving her boyfriend/boss a massage, read more

GLAAD Awards Red Carpet: Rachel Griffiths

Ok, I am a Rachel Griffiths fans.

Ok, I am a Rachel Griffiths fans. I love her on Brothers and Sisters, but I am not loving her look here. The top of her brown cocktail dress does not fit her well and those shoes, are they dye-ables? Also, she needs some neck bling and some makeup. Ugh. What do you think?

Ashton Looks Bored

This weekend Demi and Ashton got a babysitter for a night on the town.

This weekend Demi and Ashton got a babysitter for a night on the town. They joined Eva Mendes, Rachel Griffiths and more in support of Skin + Bones: Parallel Practices in Fashion and Architecture. The event was the opening night of the exhibit at The Museum of Contemporary Art in LA. Ashton didn't look too excited to be there but once inside he seemed a bit happier. Must have been from the help of their sponsor, Moet & Chandon. That or Rufus Wainwright's singing cheered him up.

You can check out Demi on Leno tonight. She is probably promoting Bobby. In the meantime, to see a lot more of Ashton, Demi, Rachel Griffiths, Eva Mendes, Rachel Zoe, Isaiah Washington, Michelle Hicks, Rufus Wainwright, and Debi Mazar on their way in and partying inside read more

Fall TV Preview: Brothers & Sisters

The highly anticipated drama, Brothers & Sisters premieres Sunday September 24th at 10/9c on ABC.

The highly anticipated drama, Brothers & Sisters premieres Sunday September 24th at 10/9c on ABC. The all-star cast aside for a moment, the real reason for all of the anticipation may be because of the real-life drama surrounding the show since the pilot was first shown to advertisers last May. The drama includes the firing of actress Betty Buckley who was originally cast as the matriarch of the Walker family and replacing her with television and movie veteran, Sally Field. This casting change as well as some other major plot changes necessitated re-filming almost the entire pilot this summer.

All the drama aside, the show, which tells the story of adult siblings living their respective lives in the shadow of their seemingly perfect parents, has an intriguing and original premise. This premise paired with the phenomenal cast makes it hard to imagine this show will fail. Notable cast members include Calista Flockhart in her first series since Ally McBeal as conservative talk show host, Kitty Walker. Rachel Griffiths (Six Feet Under) plays Sarah Walker, the high-powered executive who has just begun to work for the Walker Family business. Hottie Balthazar Getty (Alias) plays the younger brother who is being overshadowed by his older sister at work. Ron Rifkin (Alias) plays Saul Holden, Nora Holden's brother who is also a partner in the family business. And finally, Tom Skerritt plays William Walker the patriarch of the family, who as it turns out may not be as perfect as he would have his children believe.

The pilot we saw was the original and we enjoyed it very much. If the re-shot version is even better, we think this show definitely has staying power. The real question is, can we have two favorite shows with skinny whiny blonds and right now Grey's is #1 there.
