Selena Gomez was the lady in red last night when she attended the Spring Breakers LA premiere in a crimson-colored Reem Acra gown. She was joined by her costars James Franco, Ashley Benson, and Vanessa Hudgens, who wore a dramatically feathered Naeem Khan frock to the event. It was a big night for young Hollywood, as other celebrity attendees included Ashley's Pretty Little Liars costar Shay Mitchell, Modern Family star Sarah Hyland, and Vanessa Hudgens's High School Musical friend Ashley Tisdale. This marks the first official stateside premiere of the highly anticipated flick, but the cast did host a special screening of Spring Breakers at SXSW on Sunday. It's also Selena's first public appearance since an alleged new song was leaked off of her upcoming album.
Selena Gomez and Ashley Benson were on hand to chat about Spring Breakers at SXSW in Austin, TX, yesterday. The cast, including James Franco, already premiered Spring Breakers at SXSW on Sunday, but they stuck around for another day to do a press conference. While Selena looked glamorous in a blue Cushnie et Ochs dress, her costar Ashley revealed their slightly less polished routine before the event when she posted a photo on Instagram of the two of them munching on fast food.
The film, which follows a group of girls who rob a restaurant to pay for a Spring break vacation, will undoubtedly show Selena and her costars in a different light. She and Vanessa Hudgens, who are both best known for being Disney stars, recently talked about how they were excited to do the raunchy new film. Selena said, "Disney is a machine, and I'm grateful for it, but I feel like being part of that environment made me crave the reaction from other projects even more. Creatively this is where I wanted to go." With her SXSW obligations all wrapped up, Selena and Ashley returned to California last night to prepare for the March 15 release of their new flick.
Selena Gomez met up with her Spring Breakers costars to premiere their new flick at SXSW yesterday. She wore a bright Dolce & Gabbana ensemble as she posed for photos with costars Ashley Benson, Rachel Korine, and James Franco, and later attended a Q&A session about Spring Breakers. During the premiere, James talked about his violent, cornrow-wearing character in the film, noting that it was a "fun" character to play but he hated his hairstyle. He said, "The grills were cool. I hated the cornrows … if anybody had cornrows, you're in the club. We can get together and say, 'Aw, the itch; it's horrible.'"
Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens were joined by their Spring Breakers costars yesterday for another European premiere of their film, this time in Madrid. Selena donned a black Dolce & Gabbana gown while Vanessa went for a bright orange bejeweled frock. Their costar Ashley Benson followed Selena's lead in a black Tadashi Shoji dress while Rachel Korine wore a short number. Earlier in the day, Selena wore a neon yellow Blumarine ensemble and Vanessa put on a youthful white crop top by Katharine Kidd for the film's photocall. These looks are quite different from the avant-garde numbers that they all wore to the Berlin premiere of Spring Breakers earlier this week. The promotional tour for Spring Breakers isn't over just yet; the girls are all traveling to Rome for another premiere of their flick, which opens in the US on March 22.
Selena Gomez posed in a bright blue Gucci minidress with her Spring Breakers costars Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson, and Rachel Korine at the film's Paris premiere this evening. The girls touched down in France late last week and stayed busy by sightseeing and shopping around the city ahead of their big event. Selena also shared a photo of the group in front of the Eiffel Tower on her Twitter page. Vanessa Hudgens made the trip overseas after attending New York Fashion Week. We caught up with her during the festivities to talk about her favorite designers and swap style tips. Both Vanessa and Selena have garnered praise for their roles in the controversial movie, which hits theaters in the US on March 22.
Selena Gomez was joined by her Spring Breakers costars Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson, and Rachel Korine in Paris ahead of the French premiere of their new film. They have been spotted all over the City of Light over the past few days, going sightseeing, shopping, and even sending out love to their fans from their hotel balcony. One person who was missing from the girls' Parisian fun was their costar James Franco, who is currently busy in the States doing press for Oz the Great and Powerful, which opens on March 8.
Selena has been spending a lot of time with her girlfriends since splitting with boyfriend Justin Bieber earlier this year. She was last spotted meeting with friend Lily Collins for lunch in LA right before Valentine's Day.
James Franco had all his leading ladies on his arms for their Toronto International Film Festival Spring Breakers photocall and press conference on Friday. Selena Gomez, who has two films at TIFF, the other being Hotel Transylvania, was decked out in Dolce & Gabbana. Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson, and Rachel Korine rounded out their crew, all of whom just came from the movie's official debut in Venice. Selena wore custom Atelier Versace for that premiere, and she has several more occasions to show off her red-carpet style now that she's here in Canada. During this afternoon's press conference, the girls were asked if they felt like they missed out on having a real Spring break experience since they all started acting so young, and Selena responded no, since the trade-off is getting to be here. James jumped in to say that they did mingle a bit while shooting in Florida, and he got to see "all these thick-necked jock dudes trying to grind up on Selena."
Selena also momentarily mentioned worry that her fans will be shocked to see her in this role. She said, "What I do is for my fans — my shows and my clothing lines; everything is for them. When I took on this movie, I knew it wouldn't be suitable for that generation. It was hard in that aspect. It's hard for people to take me seriously that way, because of the brand that I've been given, which I'm thankful for, but having people put you in this little box, it's hard to put all of that together and make it right and smooth. It's not me breaking out into anything. It's just about me being passionate about the acting I do."
Tomorrow Selena will switch gears to show off her movie that's more suited for her younger fans, Hotel Transylvania. Check back for all our TIFF updates and movie reviews straight from the action!
The cast of Spring Breakers got the Venice Film Festival all-star treatment tonight at their red-carpet premiere. Selena Gomez, in custom Versace Atelier and Lorraine Schwartz jewels, and Vanessa Hudgens both chose champagne tones, while Ashley Benson stepped out in a bold blue hue from Alberta Ferretti. Director Harmony Korine arrived with his wife, Rachel, who wore a beautiful gold gown, and posed for photos with James Franco and the entire cast prior to the screening. A few of the stars are packing up in the upcoming days and heading to Canada, where they're expected to share the flick with North American audiences on Friday at this year's TIFF.
