Jennifer Lopez kicked off her afternoon yesterday in LA by chatting with Mario Lopez for Extra, then she joined her fellow American Idol guys Randy Jackson, Ryan Seacrest, and Steven Tyler for a party celebrating their show's top 13 contestants, who were picked last night. It's been a particularly emotional ride for Jennifer as they selected the group, though she's had distractions from her small-screen work to focus on her collaboration with Venus Razors. She also debuted her sexy new music video for "Get on the Floor" during last night's elimination episode. She's still, though, shaping up to be a popular judge as season 10 shakes things up.
American Idol had its first big headline-making tearjerker contestant of the season last night with Chris Medina, who closed out the episode with his touching personal story. Chris shared about how an accident left his longtime love and fiancée, Juliana, with a brain injury just months before their wedding. Chris spoke about continuing to care for Juliana, saying, "What kind of guy would I be if I walked out when she needed me the most?" Chris sang "Breakeven" by The Script, which left the judges with tears in their eyes. Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, and Randy Jackson then invited Chris to bring Juliana in to meet them so she could be there to hear the news that he's headed to Hollywood. Season 10 had yet to have such an emotional impact on us, and while most of you are ready to quit watching, perhaps this will draw you back in. So tell us — can Idol still make you emotional?
American Idol is back on TV tonight with its season ten debut and a new hosting lineup. In the decade since AI first premiered, the competition has launched the likes of Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, and helped make Ryan Seacrest a media powerhouse. Still, the most recent winners haven't enjoyed the same superstardom as some of their predecessors, and last year, Ellen DeGeneres, Simon Cowell, and Kara DioGuardi all left the show. Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez will now join Randy Jackson on the judging panel, and have promised to take things up a notch, so tell us — will you watch tonight's episode, or are you over Idol?
American Idol host Ryan Seacrest was joined by new judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez and AI veteran Randy Jackson at the 2011 Winter TCA press conference in LA today. All eyes were on J Lo who hit the stage wearing a leather mini dress and leopard print booties. The foursome discussed the season ten format changes and their mentoring style — to find out what they had to say about Simon Cowell check out Buzz full recap from the TCA. Since making the decision to join the show Jennifer's been enjoying time with her family on the West Coast and she seems to be settling into her reality show job and recently remodeled home. The show moves to Wednesday and Thursday starting Jan. 19 with Jennifer returning to Fox where she danced her way to fame as a Fly Girl on the '90s hit In Living Color.

This morning Fox gave an official American Idol announcement to confirm what we already knew: Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez will be sitting beside Randy Jackson for the 10th season. It should be interesting to see how everything shakes down with the fresh blood, and I'm personally glad that they're going back to just three judges. Lopez gushed about how excited she is, saying that they're on the lookout for the "next Michael Jackson." Now that everything is set in stone, how do you feel about the new Idol panel?
