Box Office: Audiences Spend Another Week in Wonderland

The other guys didn't stand a chance.

The other guys didn't stand a chance. Despite best efforts from Matt Damon and Robert Pattinson to unseat Alice in Wonderland, Tim Burton and crew took in a whopping $62 million in the film's second week at the box office. Those numbers bring the movie's intake to a grand total of $208 million so far, making it the highest gross ever for a Burton project.

The new releases of the weekend filled the second through fourth place spots, with Matt Damon's Green Zone faring the best with $14.5 million (pretty disappointing considering the film's budget is estimated around $100 million).

In a somewhat surprising fight for third place, the Jay Baruchel comedy She's Out of My League beat out Robert Pattinson with $9.6 million to Remember Me's $8.3 million (perhaps The Runaways will outperform it after all!).

Rounding out the top five was Shutter Island with $8.1 million.

Pattinson vs. Stewart: Who Will Make More at the Box Office?

Robert Pattinson makes his first post-Twilight movie debut, taking on Alice in Wonderland at the box office this weekend.

Robert Pattinson makes his first post-Twilight movie debut, taking on Alice in Wonderland at the box office this weekend. We'll have to wait until Monday to see how the heartthrob fares against the likes of Depp, DiCaprio, and Willis, but I'm more interested to see what happens when he's pitted against his costar (and real-life love interest) Kristen Stewart. Her The Runaways will be added to the mix next week, putting the two movies head-to-head. It's a tough call; I've seen both movies and while Pattinson seems to have more die-hard fans, overall The Runaways is a better movie than Remember Me (look out for my review later in the week). What's your prediction?

Buzz In: Which Actors Will You See in Any Movie?

Remember Me hits theaters today, which means Robert Pattinson fans everywhere will be flocking to the theater — despite lukewarm reviews.

Remember Me hits theaters today, which means Robert Pattinson fans everywhere will be flocking to the theater — despite lukewarm reviews. I admit that Pattinson is enjoyable to watch even though the film isn't all that great, making me wonder how I'd feel about the movie if the role had gone to another actor.

Most of Hollywood's biggest stars have had at least a few questionable career choices (just check out this compilation of awful films starring Oscar-nominated actors), but everyone has a favorite actor they'll see no matter how bad the movie looks. My own short list includes George Clooney, Paul Rudd, and Rachel McAdams. What about you — which actors have your unwavering support?

Remember Me: More Likely to Fade Away

Robert Pattinson fans, rest assured: you won't be disappointed with the heartthrob's first post-Twilight flick, Remember Me.

Robert Pattinson fans, rest assured: you won't be disappointed with the heartthrob's first post-Twilight flick, Remember Me. Pattinson is the epicenter of the film as Tyler Hawkins, a troubled-but-charming college student with a few anger management problems. His character is a loose cannon and his New York accent is all over the place, but Pattinson is just so watchable that his loyal followers will hardly notice the flaws in the plot that surrounds him. It's everyone who's not in the Twilight bubble that I'm more concerned about.

Pattinson's angsty Tyler has plenty of reasons to brood: he's still reeling with the day-to-day aftermath of his brother's suicide, constantly questioning his own worth and mortality as his 22nd birthday draws near. He's also struggling to come to terms with a mother that he can't connect with and a high-powered lawyer father (Pierce Brosnan) who doesn't seem to understand that parenthood is about more than monetary support. Tyler channels his frustrations into smoking, drinking, and random acts of violence, and eventually lands in jail after assaulting a police sergeant (Chris Cooper).

Tyler's seemingly aimless path turns in a new direction when he hits on the sergeant's daughter, Ally (Emilie de Ravin). Under the urging of his obnoxious roommate Aidan, Tyler schemes to seduce Ally and never call her again to get back at her father. Naturally, Tyler gets a lot more than he bargained for, and — surprise! — falls for Ally instead.
