Ruby: The Story of a 500-Pound Woman
Ruby weighs 487 pounds. She doesn't know how she got that big, but she knows it is time to do something about all that weight before it kills her. A new reality TV series, bearing the eponymous title Ruby, is about the life or death story of this woman's struggle to survive. The show premieres this Sunday, Nov. 9, at 8/7c on the Style Network. To see a sneak peek, check out the video below.

I'm wondering how you feel about the concept behind this show and following an obese woman's weight-loss journey. Do you see it as an inspiration to live healthy, or is it degrading and insensitive to people with weight issues? It could be the Biggest Loser without all the game play. Are you going to tune in?
TCA Time! Gavin and Stacey, Heigl, and More
It's time again for the Television Critics Association's Summer press tour, when the networks trot out their shows and stars for reporters in LA. Pop and I will be bringing you reports live from the Beverly Hilton once the network portion of the tour kicks off on Monday (you can get a taste of what you're in for by looking at last year's posts), but until then, I'm watching the Web to see what comes out of the first few days of cable network presentations. Some goodies so far:

- The British show Gavin and Stacey, one of PopUK's favorites, totally won over the room at Tuesday's BBC America session, even prompting critics who didn't like it on first watch to give it another shot. I've been excited to check out the show for a while — even more so since NBC is plotting a remake — and now I'm even more looking forward to its Aug. 26 premiere.
- In a session for the Hallmark Channel, Grey's Anatomy's Chandra Wilson (who's starring in an upcoming Hallmark movie) ended up addressing the Katherine Heigl controversy and her perceived slam at the Grey's writers. "It kind of got blown out of proportion," she said. "Some years you submit. Some years you don't."
- Apparently today, there was a session featuring Sean Young, Mikalah Gordon, and Lorenzo Lamas. I would have loved to be in that room.

In the Spotlight: Ruby and Poppy
I'm filled with warm fuzzies whenever I catch the (rare) glimpse of Poppy and Ruby! Sandra Bullock adopted the three-legged Poppy back in 2005 and later added Ruby to her family with Jesse James. Although Ruby is sometimes seen with her very own doggie wheelchair, hopping on her two back legs, or rolling in a Rio Petote, Sandra opts to cuddle her disabled pooch close when they left their NYC apt last Friday. I don't know about you, but I love it when celebrities choose to add rescues to their families — Sandra seems to realize she has a lot of love and energy to give these pets that other families may pass by!
Tobey Shows Ruby the Pacific
Tobey and Jennifer introduced their precious little 4-month-old baby, Ruby, to the Hawaii waves this weekend. The new parents couldn't look more thrilled to be sharing this moment with their little nudey booty baby. Wheee! Fun! Babyganza '07 continues! I love family man Tobey, but I gotta admit I'm starting to get excited for the Spider-Man Tobey to kick into high gear (ask me how I feel in a month when you can't go two steps without seeing an ad) starting with the sneak peek at Spider-Man 3 tonight.
