Remember that old inspirational saying, "If you can believe it, you can achieve it"? It looks like that's the case for Ashley Greene, Sebastian Stan, and Tom Felton in The Apparition. The trailer shows a team of young researchers attempting to create an apparition with their minds. When the experiment is a success, they realize that maybe it wasn't the best idea to go around making ghosts appear, especially when said ghost starts killing people.

This trailer is totally creepy and also pretty reminiscent of a couple of horror classics. The hubris of the young scientists trying to create something unnatural without regard for whether it may turn out to be totally evil is so Flatliners, while the "You believe it, you die" concept reminds me a lot of The Ring, though you had to at least watch a video tape in The Ring. These kids might be worse off, given that they have to control their own thoughts in order to survive. The flick comes out Aug. 24, but you can watch the preview when you read more

Sebastian Stan might be best known for portraying Carter on Gossip Girl, but that could change with his role in Captain America. We talked to the actor, who plays Captain America's best friend and sidekick, Bucky, at a press day for the movie last weekend. Sebastian told us he initially auditioned for the lead role, which ended up going to Chris Evans, but said Bucky turned out to be the perfect fit. In the Marvel comics, Bucky eventually becomes Captain America, and Sebastian didn't rule out stepping into Chris's shoes in the future. He also talked about the fast friendship he and Chris struck up on the set and the stunts gone wrong that kept them cracking up behind the scenes. Here are highlights :

• On how he reacted when they asked him to play Bucky: "[I said] yeah, let's work together. [laugh] I'm so glad this isn't over. I hadn't even looked up one thing about the character. At that point, I was just still very much in the whole Steve Rogers thing, and then when I heard I didn't get it, I just thought it was done. I hadn't read a script. They just sort of talked to me about it, and so all my instincts to it were really fresh."
• On whether he ever gave Chris a hard time for nabbing the role: "Oh, no, no, no. I was very happy for him. I was like, 'You go ahead and get all buff. What are you having to eat? A piece of lemon? OK.' [Laughs] We really hit it off since the beginning. It was nice that we had some time before the movie shot to really get to know each other. And I've known him briefly here and there — just a small world in Los Angeles. I mean, the biggest challenge with him was that sometimes we'd just get on these laughing fits, and it'd be time to shoot, and I'd be like, 'All I'm really doing right now is trying not to laugh.' I thought all that went really well, fortunately, toward the parallel we have in the film."

They were right next to Christina Hendricks, who opted out of staying home to watch the new drama-filled episode of her series Mad Men. Jessica Szohr prepped for tonight's debut of Gossip Girl season four by indulging in the Big Apple's latest styles, and later she met up with real-life boyfriend Ed Westwick at Tommy's huge afterparty, which featured a rare performance by The Strokes. As for Jessica's female costars, Michelle Trachtenberg hit FNO and Leighton Meester has also been all over the runway front rows, though Blake Lively took a few days off to promote The Town at TIFF. Beyonce Knowles was spotted outside in full hair and makeup after walking the runway in a top-secret Tom Ford show while her sister, Solange, watched from the audience last night. Ashley Greene chose a bold color to attend the Donna Karan show today, straight from keeping it neutral at the VMAs on Sunday. Kelly Osbourne sat front row next to her fellow Dancing With the Stars alumna Denise Richards at Tracy Reese, and Emma Roberts wore white to watch Monique Lhuillier's presentation of gorgeous dresses. Ashley Greene was back to work yesterday on the set of The Apparition looking ready to jump into Spring in a pair of short denim cutoffs filming with Sebastian Stan. Sebastian's normally spotted getting close with Leighton Meester but for now the Hot Tub Time Machine star is making the best of his onscreen romance. Soon enough Ashley will be reunited with her Cullen love Jackson Rathbone and this week we saw her back in character wearing her Alice wig in newly released Eclipse stills. Fans of the series will have to wait until June 5 to see if Alice also makes a cameo in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight Saga Novella.

The cameras were rolling on the NYC set of Gossip Girl yesterday for Taylor Momsen, Blake Lively and Penn Badgley. Chace Crawford was back to work following his exciting weekend in LA for the Golden Globes. Jessica Szohr and Ed Westwick also went west for the Art of Elysium charity event and the awards show afterparties, though they weren't on hand for the afternoon of filming. Taylor Momsen kept herself busy on the East Coast, though, with her Thursday appearance to launch Victoria's Secret's new fragrance with a little controversy.

The cast of Gossip Girl took last night off from working on their show to toast their costume designer Eric Daman at an event for his book You Know You Want It in NYC. Eric had his leading ladies on the red carpet for support, with Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Jessica Szohr, and Michelle Trachtenberg coming out for the bash. Ed Westwick and Sebastian Stan accompanied their girlfriends, as did a newly dark-haired Olivia Palermo. Leighton and Olivia have stepped out to celebrate Eric and his style guide before, but it looks like this time around they had almost the whole Upper East Side gang there to join in on the fun.
