Emma Watson Shines at The Bling Ring Premiere at Cannes

Emma Watson and The Bling Ring cast premiered their film at the Cannes Film Festival in the South of France today.

Emma Watson and The Bling Ring cast premiered their film at the Cannes Film Festival in the South of France today. Emma wore a red Christopher Kane ensemble to the photocall for the film earlier in the day, but changed into a Chanel Couture black and white gown for the red carpet bash. She also donned a simple black dress when she attended The Bling Ring press conference. Emma was joined at all of the events by her costars costars Claire Julien, Katie Chang, and Taissa Farmiga and director Sofia Coppola. The film will premiere at the festival today, but won't hit US theaters until June 14. Tonight's event will be an important screening for Sofia, who was famously booed at the festival in 2006 after she premiered Marie Antoinette.

Emma, Sofia, and their crew are hardly the only stars who are promoting their new flicks at the festival. Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan kicked off the weeklong event yesterday when they screened The Great Gatsby at the Cannes Film Festival 2013 opening ceremony. Other stars like Julianne Moore and judge Nicole Kidman also walked the red carpet at the opening bash — be sure to check out all the stars at the Cannes Film Festival!

Emma and Sofia on the Real Bling Ring: "An Extraordinary Set of Circumstances"

Emma Watson and Sofia Coppola discussed their new film, The Bling Ring, today during a press conference at the Cannes Film Festival.

Emma Watson and Sofia Coppola discussed their new film, The Bling Ring, today during a press conference at the Cannes Film Festival. The conference came after a morning photocall and before their big premiere scheduled to take place this evening at the Palais des Festival. The Bling Ring, which is out in the US on June 14, is based on the true story of a group of fame-obsessed teens who tracked the outings of celebrities — including Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom, and Megan Fox — via social media and then robbed their homes. Emma heads a cast that includes Taissa Farmiga, Katie Chang, Israel Broussard, and Claire Julien.

Today, the actors, along with Sofia, touched on the real story and the factors that made it possible for the burglars to locate and steal from the stars. Emma also reflected on what it's like being a woman in the film industry, and Sofia hinted that tonight's red carpet event will include a cameo from Paris herself. Here are highlights from the conference:

Sofia in Paris Hilton's rumored appearance: "Paris Hilton and them haven't seen it, but I heard they might be coming tonight."

Sofia on the robbers whose stories inspired the film: "We made a movie. I'm not too concerned about their reactions."

Emma on what it's like for women in the film industry: "I am young, and . . . from why I see, young women are at the helm of franchises I see coming out. We are forging a new way in comedy. From what I can see, it's a great time to be a woman in this industry."

Emma on the prevalence of social media: "I think it's amazing how self-aware people are becoming. . . . I think it's a shame . . . "

Sofia on walking a fine line in being inspired by their story: "I definitely didn't want to add to their celebrity because of what they did."

On whether or not the based-on-a-true-story film makes them depressed about the 20-something generation — Emma: "It was an extraordinary set of circumstances."

Sofia: "Knowing my actors gives me hope."

Sofia Coppola's Greatest Lines on Growing Up Girl

Happy birthday, Sofia Coppola!

Happy birthday, Sofia Coppola! The director, who turns 42 today, has been working on her latest film, The Bling Ring (out June 14). It stars Emma Watson as the latest — and, arguably, least likeable — Sofia Coppola heroine. And the group is an elite one, as Sofia has only directed five full-length feature films: The Virgin Suicides, Lost in Translation, Marie Antoinette, Somewhere, and now, The Bling Ring. Besides dreamy atmospheric shots and an emphasis on music, Sofia's films are known for exploring the expectations, complexities, and trials of growing up as a girl and what it means to be a woman. Click through for some of the most poignant lines from Sofia-directed films on female adolescence, motherhood, and everything in between.

The Teaser For The Bling Ring Has Emma Watson Poppin' Bottles

Who needs to work for fame and success when you can just steal it?

Who needs to work for fame and success when you can just steal it? Thus is the sentiment of the "heroes" of Sofia Coppola's upcoming film, The Bling Ring, starring Emma Watson. She plays Nicki, the ringleader of a crew of young Los Angeles residents who make a career out of stealing from the rich and famous. Though there isn't a lot of dialogue in the teaser, there is some footage of Watson bustin' some moves paired with Sleigh Bells' "Crown on the Ground." So, are you ready to go shopping?

Unbelievable as it may sound, the film is based on a true story. As we can tell from the teaser, not all is well that ends well for this crew, as they wind up going from walk-in closets filled with Jimmy Choos to being cuffed and led through a crowd of reporters. I don't know about you, but I can't wait for the full trailer. The movie is coming out June 5, and you can check out the teaser after the jump.

Marc Jacobs Wraps Up Fashion Week With a Star-Studded Show

Miley Cyrus and Christina Ricci mingled with a fashionable crowd when they attended the Marc Jacobs Fall 2013 show yesterday.

Miley Cyrus and Christina Ricci mingled with a fashionable crowd when they attended the Marc Jacobs Fall 2013 show yesterday. Marc's show taking place at the end of Fashion Week wasn't intentional — it was originally scheduled for Monday, but was moved due to delivery delays caused by snowstorm Nemo. Both Miley and Christina showed off their midriffs in belly-baring Marc Jacobs ensembles. Meanwhile, Marc Jacobs's muse Sofia Coppola showed her support for her longtime friend when she dropped by in one of his striped t-shirts. Fashion Week fixture Rachel Zoe also made an appearance in a dramatic blue and white striped frock.

Miley Cyrus kept herself busy during New York Fashion Week, visiting shows for Marchesa and Rachel Zoe as well as hosting a party for Cosmopolitan magazine. Miley isn't just at the shows to make appearances — she might be checking out gowns for her upcoming wedding to Liam Hemsworth. Miley said that Marchesa is "definitely" a possibility for her wedding dress, but noted that she has "so many options" at this point.

Acne Paper 14 Party Pictures With Sofia Coppola & Alexa Chung

Alexa Chung, Sofia Coppola, and Clemence Poesy were among those who braved the rain Monday night to fete Acne Paper's Issue 14. Held at New York's storied Four Seasons Restaurant, the champagne-filled soiree featured live jazz from the Blue Velvet quintet, while music stands placed around the room showcased copies of the paper. At 272 pages, it's the magazine's biggest issue yet, and also the first time it's been entirely dedicated to a single locale. "We could have chosen London, Paris, Berlin, or any other city of cosmopolitan importance, but we took Manhattan," editor in chief Thomas Persson explained. "During our many visits to the Big Apple we have had the great fortune of befriending a number of wonderful people who have only taken a keen interest in our publication but who have also helped shape it." Perhaps some of those friends were also in attendance — we spied fashion vets Simon Doonan, Lily Donaldson, Hanne Gaby Odiele, Olivier Theyskens, and Monique Pean all there and having a pretty grand time. An inside look at all the fun, here.
