Sofia Coppola and Louis Vuitton are at it again. After a very successful first guest designer run, the director has released yet another modern-cum-classic handbag line for the French house. Here she is carrying the black style at the Venice Film Festival. You won't be able to get your hands on them until they hit LV boutiques in October, but here is a sneak peek to get you excited.
>> Sofia Coppola Continues Louis Vuitton Handbag Collaboration with New Style, Fresh Colors For Fall 2010 —Sofia Coppola and Louis Vuitton continue to build on their relationship: In addition to appearing in the brand's heritage ads alongside her father, Francis Ford Coppola, Sofia's now expanding her handbag and shoe collaboration with Vuitton for the Fall. The latest additions — set to bow in October — include a newly sized day bag, along with the existing designs in several new colors, like the chocolate brown at left (the bag has previously been available in navy or a muted cranberry red leather, the Vuitton monogram, or a deep gray suede). >> Sofia Coppola Directing for Dior Again? —Sofia Coppola, who directed a fragrance commercial for Dior a couple of years ago, looks to be working with the brand again. Coppola was snapped just short of a week ago filming a Dior advertisement in Paris; she reportedly worked with Natalie Portman, who signed to be the face of Parfums Christian Dior last month, and her cousin Robert Schwartzman (brother to Jason Schwartzman) in the Parc Monceau last Monday and Tuesday. It's so easy to be seduced by Sofia Coppola's filmmaking; her movies are always visually striking and emotionally charged in an understated way. Her latest, Somewhere, boasts both of those qualities and bears lots of similarity to Lost in Translation. This time, Stephen Dorff (yes, Stephen Dorff) and Elle Fanning play father and daughter bonding in Hollywood — specifically, the historic hotel Chateau Marmont.
The trailer is mostly dialogue-free, but the images presented give you plenty of story (he's a washed-up actor and disconnected father). Set it all to a slowed-down arrangement of The Strokes' "You Only Live Once," and it already has me convinced I'm going to love this one.

>> Maryna Linchuk to Appear in Sofia Coppola's Somewhere — Maryna Linchuk worked with Sofia Coppola on a Dior commercial two years ago, so it's no surprise to hear that along with Erin Wasson, she'll be making an appearance in Coppola's upcoming film Somewhere. Maryna was snapped on set by Sofia's niece Gia, left, and recently told Russian Tatler of the gig [Ed. note: translated from Russian]: "I appear in the movie for just a few minutes only to seduce the main character. Right now I’m a model. It’s difficult to combine several activities and do both of them professionally." [Fashin, No Respective, TFS]
Luxury brand Louis Vuitton is showing off its green side on Earth Day by donating 15 percent of all US online sales to The Climate Project. "Over the past few years Louis Vuitton has voluntarily made efforts to reduce the impact of its activities on the environment. In addition we are proud to be able to support The Climate Project in its inspiring quest to raise awareness of the climate crisis," said President of Louis Vuitton North America, Daniel Lalonde. This donation is part of the brand's continued relationship with The Climate Project, which started back in 2007 with the Core Values campaign featuring Francis and Sofia Coppola. Clap, clap LV!
Sofia Coppola Sets Next Movie in Legendary Hollywood Hot Spot Titled Somewhere, Sofia's next movie centers on "a bad-boy actor stumbling through a life of excess at the Chateau Marmont. With an unexpected visit from his 11-year-old daughter, he is forced to reexamine his life." Stephen Dorff will play the actor and Elle Fanning will play his daughter.
