Questions to Ask Before Saying Yes to an Ex's Wedding

Exes bring up a lot of drama at weddings. Brides and grooms must consider their soon-to-be spouses feelings when deciding to send an invite, but most of the drama occurs after the invitation is sent. So before you choose the salmon, here are few questions to ask yourself.

  • Can you bring a date? Having a date, even if it's just a friend, will go a long way. If the invitation is for you only, consider what friends will be there and who they'll be with. If they're in the bridal party, you may not see as much of them as you hope. If they're there with dates or spouses, consider the couple first. On the other hand, having a date can be equally stressful. Maybe you'd rather go alone!
  • How do you feel about the bride? If you haven't met her or there's any existing tension, think about what you plan to get out of the night. If fun doesn't come to mind, then consider it a red flag.
  • Are you dreading seeing his family? It's not just your ex and your emotions you'll have to confront, but his parents, siblings, and grandma who always said you were "such a nice girl." It's bound to be a bit awkward, but it should only be five to 10 minutes of conversation. Maybe less! If you think you can suck it up, go for it.
  • Why do you want to go? Is it to satisfy some self-destructive curiosity? Then just look at the photos on Facebook!
  • Will anyone care if you say no? Really? It's easy to think we'll offend someone after they've spent $15 on an invitation, but no bride or groom expects everyone invited to attend. They might even hope you — dear, controversial guest — say no.

Katie Holmes Talks About Her Big Life With Tom and Suri in Marie Claire

Katie Holmes played up her green eyes with enhancing violet makeup for the cover of Marie Claire's October issue.

Katie Holmes played up her green eyes with enhancing violet makeup for the cover of Marie Claire's October issue. The Romantics star has been making the promotional rounds leading up to the release of her film on Friday, and last night she joined her fashionable costars at the NYC premiere. Katie partied into the evening with her thoughtful husband, Tom Cruise, but their daughter Suri missed out on the adults' only affair. Katie, though, told the magazine that she likes to keep Suri on a certain schedule whereever in the world they happens to be, and the actress also shared about being Mrs. Cruise and expanding their family. Here's more:

  • On being Mrs. Cruise: "It's really exciting. Tom's as big at home as he is on the movie screen. He's so passionate about everything, whatever he's doing. When he's being a dad, he's right there;he's giving it his all. It's inspiring and it's fun. It's an amazing life, but we always remind ourselves of how incredibly lucky we are."
  • On having more children: "Maybe in a couple of years, but right now I want to make sure I'm really there for Suri. I'm the youngest in my family-my closest sister is 5 years older than me, and the next one is nine years ahead of me, so I was a bit of an only child, and I liked it! I liked having all of my mom's attention, and sometimes I think I still do."
  • What she hopes to pass along to Suri: “We travel a lot, and so for me, it’s keeping a daily schedule for Suri that never changes. We wake up, and we do the same thing. She does her chores. I think it’s very important. If she doesn’t get her chores done, I notice she’s not really herself. She has to make her bed, she has to take her dishes to the sink, she has to put her clothes in the laundry — you know, that basic stuff. I try to do what my mom did for me … just spending time with her, making doll clothes and planting in the garden … When Suri comes to the set, we have art projects, and I just try to keep her busy and inspired.”

Leighton Meester wrapped up her stylish fun at the Fashion's Night Out runway show to attend the screening as well. Katie spoke to reporters at the event about how she loves taking her daughter Suri to her various sets, saying, "She is such a light that you instantly feel better . . .
