The Roommate

Leighton Meester plays Rebecca, the college roommate from hell, in this thriller. When she moves in with Sara (Minka Kelly), she befriends her a little too overzealously, and her mental state comes into question when Rebecca becomes obsessed with her roomie. Next thing you know, she's trying to steal Sara's boyfriend (Cam Gigandet), then starts terrorizing him and other people in Sara's life. DVD extras include director's commentary track and an alternate opening scene.

Box Office: Just Go With It Narrowly Beats Justin Bieber

It was a photo finish at the box office this weekend between Just Go With It and Justin Bieber's Never Say Never.

It was a photo finish at the box office this weekend between Just Go With It and Justin Bieber's Never Say Never. As of Sunday, the teen idol's documentary had raked in an estimated $30.2 million, and was nipping at the heels of Just Go With It, which took in a reported $31 million. Even though Sandler and Aniston are at No. 1 for the time being, the films could swap first and second place once final numbers are announced. Are you surprised to see Bieber's doc perform so well?

Gnomeo and Juliet also received its own sizable piece of the pie; the kiddie flick took in $25.5 million for third place, making it the biggest February opening ever for an animated film. Lagging behind in fourth, Channing Tatum's The Eagle had a dismal opening of only $8.6 million. Last week's champ, The Roommate rounded out the top five with $8.4 million.

January may be a tough month at the box office, but Leighton Meester and Minka Kelly's thriller The Roommate managed to make its mark. It earned $15.6 million, which landed it in first place in the least-attended Super Bowl weekend in 15 years.

In second place was Sanctum, the James Cameron-produced cave thriller and fellow new release, which made $9.2 million. Following it in third was Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher's romantic comedy No Strings Attached with $8.4 million, and Oscar hopeful The King's Speech was right on its heels with $8.3 million. Rounding out the top five was The Green Hornet, which came in with $6.1 million.

Leighton Meester was the guest of honor last night at a bash celebrating her latest cover of Nylon magazine cohosted by Diesel in NYC. Her costar in The Roommate, Minka Kelly, was fresh off a plane from LA to join her in the afternoon for a Q & A at the SoHo Apple store before the bash, which brought out Kanye West, Jared Leto, and Leighton's Gossip Girl buddies Jessica Szohr and Nicole Fiscella. Leighton also fit in time for a swing by Jimmy Kimmel Live to reveal her adventures at Prince's recent concert. Minka and Leighton were together just last week in LA for the West Coast premiere of their thriller. The girls chatted about their own experiences with creepy roommates, and Leighton kicked things up a notch yesterday with the release of her PSA called "Don't Touch My S***." Minka was on the go this morning as well, heading out to make a stop by Regis and Kelly.

Tips For Living With a Roommate

To me, The Roommate, which comes out on Friday, looks like an update of Single White Female, a movie that I will never watch again. Living with roomies is hard enough as it is; it's not as if we need a creepy thriller to freak us out even more. Whether you live with roommates or your significant other, there are plenty of lessons to learn from my many years of living in weird neighborhoods and with sometimes-terrible roommates. Check out my tips, and hopefully you won't go through the same mistakes that I have!

Leighton and Minka Talk Roommates and Valentines at Their Big West Coast Premiere

Minka Kelly and Leighton Meester threw their arms around each other to pose for photos at last night's premiere of The Roommate held in LA's Soho House.

Minka Kelly and Leighton Meester threw their arms around each other to pose for photos at last night's premiere of The Roommate held in LA's Soho House. Both ladies opened up on the red carpet about their own roommate experiences, with Leighton admitting to having had one particularly bad episode. Conversation moved on to the upcoming Valentine's Day holiday, and despite being linked to Garrett Hedlund, Leighton said her only guys this year are her father and brother. She does, though, love her small screen romantic interest on Gossip Girl and hopes that Chuck Bass ends up with her Blair Waldorf. Minka, meanwhile, talked about doing her own stunts in the movie and confessed that she actually ended up getting injured. Minka didn't touch on any upcoming wedding to Derek Jeter, but she did talk about working with Jennifer Aniston on Just Go With It and said that the former Friends star seemed really nice — there's lots more to come from the event, including a conversation with Minka and Leighton's costar Matt Lanter, so stay turned for today's PopSugar Rush!

The Roommate Trailer: Blair Waldorf Would Not Approve

It's pretty much a rite of passage for stars of soapy series to take on horror movie roles.

It's pretty much a rite of passage for stars of soapy series to take on horror movie roles. With that in mind, it's no surprise that upcoming thriller The Roommate has assembled a cast that includes Friday Night Lights' Minka Kelly, Hellcats' Aly Michalka, and Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester. (Cam Gigandet, who starred on The O.C., is here, too). It's a predictable, Single White Female for college students kind of movie, with Meester playing Kelly's new college roommie, Rebecca. They hit it off right away, but it's not long before Sara (Kelly) realizes that Rebecca's got a couple of screws loose.

The typical stalker behavior follows: Sara realizes that Rebecca has no friends and is on "medication," while Rebecca is quietly plotting to take down Sara's other friends and boyfriends. The trailer is worth a look just to get a chuckle at seeing Meester out of her prim and proper Blair Waldorf attire and into psycho mode. Check it when you read more
