In the midst of awards season, several stars have signed on for new film projects. This weekend's Golden Globes host Tina Fey is in late negotiations for the lead female role in The Muppets sequel, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is joining Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, and Oscar winner Robin Williams will be headlining a drama. With the Oscars only a couple of weeks away, we've got a few predictions, and it looks like certain people (go Christopher Plummer, go!) might be sweeping this award season. Reese Witherspoon had a great deal of male company at a Fourth of July party in Malibu on Sunday — she caught up with pals Tim Robbins and Sean Penn after arriving with her boyfriend Jim Toth and son Deacon. Reese also had the pre-holiday joy of filming with Robert Pattinson late into Friday night on the LA set of Water for Elephants. With production of their movie going on not far from Reese's home, she's been lucky to spend her downtime with Jim and her kids. This weekend was special due to Independence Day, so Reese was able to catch up with friends she hasn't seen much while working.

If there wasn't enough star power for you on the Oscars red carpet or at the Elton John party, you're in luck because there's even more at the Vanity Fair bash! We took a look at the amazing and adorable inside shots from the event, but the lush greenery outside the Sunset Towers makes for some gorgeous arrivals shots. Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin are becoming pros at posing together, while Jennifer Westfeldt made sure to stick by her handsome man Jon Hamm's side. Taylor Lautner was solo for a bit but spent much of his evening with Twilight saga costar Kristen Stewart, who was spotted sneaking out barefoot at the end of her night. Kate Bosworth and Alexander Skarsgard are still playing the separate arrivals game, and Natalie Portman didn't bring her rumored ballet-dancing boyfriend.
Diane Kruger changed out of her controversial Chanel number and into something beautiful and bright, also upgrading her look by reuniting with Joshua Jackson, who we missed at the Oscars. With one Glee girl holding down the fort at Elton, Dianna Agron looked perfectly poised on her way into VF. Bar Refaeli also went long and white without her own Academy Award nominee, Leonardo DiCaprio. Jessica Simpson in a slimming one-shoulder gown joined in on the award season finale. Lenny Kravitz brought his daughter Zoe out late while he was simultaneously making a funny appearance on Jimmy Kimmel's Handsome Men's Club skit along with Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Josh Hartnett, and many other good-looking guys.

The afterparty fun kicked off in LA last night with Vanity Fair's post-Oscars party — make sure to check out the star-studded arrivals! The Sunset Towers hosted celebs who attended the show and those who didn't, like Victoria Beckham and Jessica Simpson, who chatted with Heidi Klum. Sandra Bullock clutched her Academy Award, and her The Blind Side costar Quinton Aaron posed with Rachel McAdams. Kathryn Bigelow and Jeremy Renner looked thrilled to bring out their The Hurt Locker gold, and fellow winner Jeff Bridges smiled alongside fellow Crazy Heart actor Maggie Gyllenhaal. Cameron Diaz changed out of her red carpet dress and into something shorter as she chatted with Jason Segel, and elsewhere Sean Penn shared a drink with Kid Rock.
Kristen Stewart, meanwhile, chatted away alongside Anjelica Huston, as Inglourious Basterds' Eli Roth cuddled up to his apparently new lady, Peaches Geldof. Rachel McAdams' ex Josh Lucas gave some bunny ears to Sam Worthington and Carey Mulligan, while happy couples like Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens and Russell Brand and Katy Perry only had eyes for each other. Natalie Portman stopped to say hi to her Black Swan costar Mila Kunis' boyfriend Macaulay Culkin, following his touching tribute to John Hughes. Lovely ladies like Kate Beckinsale and Anna Kendrick kept the fashionable times going, as the VF bash got a long night of partying in LA under way.

Apparently there's one more to add to the shocking breakups of 2009 — Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins announced their split after 23 years together. Her rep confirmed that the two parted ways over the Summer. Susan has been out doing press for The Lovely Bones where we noticed that she avoided questions about her longtime relationship. Susan and Tim have two sons who are 17 and 20, and she has an older daughter Eva who starred on this season of Californication. We're always sad to hear about the end of such a committed pair, especially when they've been together for so long.
Matt Damon and Josh Brolin stepped out last night for the NYC premiere of The People Speak. The program, which features celebrities reading important documents from America's past, will debut on the History Channel Dec. 13. Both Matt and Josh are producers of the project that features Danny Glover, and John Krasinski made a late, low-key entrance to pose for photos before heading inside. Emily Blunt was there for the afterparty, lending her support to both her fiance John and her The Adjustment Bureau costar Matt. We had a chance to chat with Josh, who said working with Matt is easy and fun — and they're also set to star together in an upcoming Coen brothers film. Matt, meanwhile, said history is a big hit with his girls at home, though his youngest two daughters are still a little too small to show much interest just yet.
