Salma Hayek and her daughter, Valentina, left LA yesterday. Salma and Valentina had arrived in California earlier this month to start preparations for award season. Salma was a presenter at this year's Golden Globes, where she wore a strapless black dress by Gucci Première. Salma had a bit of drama at the award show when the teleprompter unexpectedly broke while she was presenting with Paul Rudd. The two flubbed for a quick second, and Paul later explained they had no idea what to do. He said, "We didn't know, I didn't know they were doing two [categories] — we never had rehearsal." Salma won't be out of LA for too long — she'll return in February to attend the 2013 Spirit Awards, where she and Jeremy Renner will act as honorary cochairs.
Salma Hayek and Valentina Land in LA to Start Award Season
Salma Hayek arrived in LA with her daughter, Valentina, yesterday. Salma let her naturally wavy hair down as she walked through the airport. Although Salma isn't up for any awards, she could be in town to start preparations for award season, which kicks off this week with the People's Choice Awards on Wednesday, Jan. 9. The actress is involved in one big event. Salma and Jeremy Renner were named honorary cochairs for the 2013 Spirit Awards, and the two actors will attend the Spirit Awards Nominee Brunch in LA on Saturday as well as the award show itself on Saturday, Feb. 23, the day before the Oscars. Regardless of what shows Salma attends, she is sure to wear a stunning designer gown, as her husband, Francois-Henri Pinault, is the CEO of PPR, which owns red carpet favorites like Gucci, Balenciaga, and Saint Laurent.
Salma Hayek Hits the Deauville Film Fest With Her Family
Salma Hayek continued making the film festival rounds with a stop at Deauville over the weekend. On Saturday, she joined her husband, François-Henri Pinault, and their daughter, Valentina, for a special event — she unveiled a beach closet, a high honor at Deauville, with her name on it at the Promenade des Planches.
On Saturday night, Salma wore a Stella McCartney dress and Graziela earrings to join François-Henri and Valentina for the closing ceremony. Salma was honored with a tribute to her career. Accepting her honor, she spoke about her childhood dreams of acting and finding inspiration in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Salma said, "I realized in cinema you could have a river made out of chocolate, chew gum and then burp yourself back down to earth, take flowers made out of candy and eat them. I was always a bit sad, being raised Catholic, at the idea that we only got to live one life, so acting was my way of cheating this concept. As an actress, I can live many lives and I've been many different people. . . . Now I believe in reincarnation so I'm not as anxious."
Salma and François-Henri have been making the festival rounds, and were at Venice just last week. There, Salma and François-Henri toasted Blake Lively as the face of Gucci's Première fragrance and hosted the Gucci Award For Women in Cinema.

It's the latest role bringing Salma to the Northeast — she was also in Boston last Spring to shoot Here Comes the Boom alongside Kevin James, who's also in the Grown Ups franchise.

She talked about getting into the beauty business in a new issue of Marie Claire at Work and also touched on life with Valentina and husband Francois-Henri Pinault. Salma said of Francois-Henri, "He's the best thing that ever happened to me and my work. I was trying to figure out how to have a child on my own. I came to terms with saying, '[Love] might not happen, and I have to be OK with that.' Then someone came along whom I never would have pictured or thought I would have wanted; he was completely out of my box. Even though I was not looking, I was present and I was open. I am the luckiest person I know."
