Natalie, Alec and Ryan Lead the Way at Gotham's Indie Awards

It was a celebration of movies and acting in NYC last night at the Gotham Independent Film Awards. Ryan Reynolds hit the red carpet solo looking dapper in his vest while Brooke Shields stood close to Rosie Perez and Alec Baldwin posed with Richard Kind. Alec recently said he would be retiring from acting in a couple of years, but first he's out to promote It's Complicated out this month. He also has a big award show to host this season when he and Steve Martin take on the Oscars together. Natalie Portman showed some skin — get her look here — before being honored during the show just days before her new film, Brothers, hits theaters.

The night's big winner was The Hurt Locker while Stanley Tucci was also one of the night's honorees along with Portman. Chris Rock came out to support his documentary Good Hair, though the prize went to Food, Inc. The night was full of laughs as Meryl Streep entertained, and Sam Rockwell made funny faces with Patricia Clarkson who took the podium. Award season is underway as we start to get an idea of what lies in store for the nominations and shows yet to come.

Movie Preview: Fireflies in the Garden

I feel compelled to give a warning before showing this trailer: Proceed only if you're feeling emotionally strong.

I feel compelled to give a warning before showing this trailer: Proceed only if you're feeling emotionally strong. Fireflies in the Garden boasts an impressive cast (Julia Roberts, Willem Dafoe, Emily Watson, Ryan Reynolds, Hayden Panettiere) and it looks to be well-made — though I'm not sure I saw it very clearly through my tears. This film looks gut-wrenching.

The plot description is basic ("The semi-autobiographical story centers on the complexities of love and commitment in a family torn apart when faced by an unexpected tragedy"), but you get a pretty clear sense of what the movie's all about from the international trailer, which you can see after the jump. The family drama screened at the Berlin Film Festival, but it's unclear when it will arrive in American theaters. To see the international trailer, read more

This Just In: Willem Dafoe Is Erasing His Rubber House

According to Real Estalker, Willem Dafoe has put his 1,949-square-foot, 2-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom home in Upstate New York on the market for $850,000.

According to Real Estalker, Willem Dafoe has put his 1,949-square-foot, 2-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom home in Upstate New York on the market for $850,000. And the house is a one-of-a-kind stunner —as unique as the actor, who's known for his unusual roles. The listing reads:

The rubber house is a local landmark and one of the few examples of true modern architecture in the area. It was commissioned and built for the late choreographer Eugene Loring. Inspired by the enormous boulders and rock outcroppings on the meadowed acreage, soaring walls of glass bring light and nature indoors. The third-floor tower is the quintessential spot for writing or gazing and the space that was the dance studio is a great room that's ideal for entertaining.

The 1980s house looks to me like a steel battleship, but turns out it's made from neoprene (i.e. synthetic rubber)! I love the interior and the subdued wall tones; you'd never guess from the exterior that it gets so much natural light. If this house were in LA, it would probably go for at least $2 million — that's the advantage of living in the country, in addition to enjoying the beautiful wooded land and deer frolicking to and fro. That is, until a deer decides to run straight into your car (which has happened many a time to dear old me). Would you like to live in this rubber battleship?

Berlin Brings Out Celebs, Fireflies, and Elegies

The stars were scattered all over the map this weekend, between the Grammys and the BAFTAs, but yet another set of celebs headed to Germany for the 58th Berlinale International Film Festival.

The stars were scattered all over the map this weekend, between the Grammys and the BAFTAs, but yet another set of celebs headed to Germany for the 58th Berlinale International Film Festival. Ryan Reynolds showed his pretty face and his co-star Hayden Panettiere glittered in gold to represent their movie Fireflies in the Garden. As always, Penelope is beautiful in black, there for her film Elegy while Diane Kruger looked stunning and thrilled to be on the red carpet on her home turf. The festival will be going on all week, and we can't wait to see who else comes out to shine and show off their new movies.

Jake and Mark Make Nice

It looks like Jake and Mark were able to put all their differences behind them for the NY screening of Zodiac.

It looks like Jake and Mark were able to put all their differences behind them for the NY screening of Zodiac. Now they can turn their focus on more important things - like getting dressed up all fancy and looking damn good! We hear the movie is scary but really good.

We want to see it not only because of its two gorgeous leading men but because it takes place in the Bay Area and it's always fun to see your city on the big screen. For more pics of the big names that came out to see the flick including Bono, Tim Robbins, Willem Dafoe and more just read more
