Olé! In this past weekend's World Cup finals, the entire world watched Spain score a goal against the Netherlands in overtime to take home the treasured title for the very first time in the nation's history.

Not content to simply throw a global tapas-themed party for the World Cup, Cameron Selogie, owner of Il Vinaio restaurant in Mesa, AZ, has been serving customers a limited-edition South Africa-themed burger made from lion meat.
The burger, which the Phoenix-area restaurant is charging $21 for, is actually a mixture of lion meat and ground beef. Since lions are a protected — and dwindling — species in Africa, animal rights activists have predictably been flooding the restaurant with angry calls, emails, and even bomb threats.
Selogie claims that his meat came from a free-range farm in Illinois that's been approved by the USDA. "Frankly, I'm a little shocked with all the problems in the world today, with the oil spill and immigration, that people have this much time to talk about 10 pounds of lion meat," he said. Yet rumors are swirling about the legitimacy of the Illinois lion farm. I'm not satisfied by Selogie's answer and think the idea sounds gross. What about you?
David Beckham was back in his red uniform to join the English team for their latest practice session in Rustenburg, South Africa, earlier today. He's not allowed to do much exercise as his Achilles tendon continues to heal, but David seemed to be intensely strategizing with coach Fabio Capello. David's squad's win against Slovenia yesterday means they'll advance to the second round, and next up is a match against Germany on Sunday. As David continues to focus on soccer, his family is enjoying a few weeks in London. Victoria rubbed shoulders with some of the city's most famous residents last night when she joined Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna to celebrate Diane von Furstenberg's new boutique at Claridge's.
David Beckham was decked out yesterday to join the English soccer team for their latest practice session in Rustenburg, South Africa. Their squad was getting ready for tomorrow's big World Cup match versus Slovenia, which hopefully goes better than their last draw against Algeria. They need a win to move on in the tournament, and David seems hopeful about the odds. He said, "We win the next game, we win the group. We know we've not played well in the first two games but we haven't lost, we've got two points. To get it back on track it's easy — if we win our last game then everything looks good again." Regardless of the outcome, it's always a treat to see David suited up on the sidelines in his stylish attire.

And a happy Father's Day to you too! Soccer may be the most popular sport around the world, but it has taken its time to catch on here in the US. With the 2010 World Cup well under way, the sport is gaining a whole new crop of fans in women who can't take their eyes off of the sexy footballers. What the many of the ladies don't know is that some of the best players in the world spend their off-field time changing diapers and kicking the ball around with their tots. In honor of Father's Day, we're taking a look at some of the dads who know that dribbling means more than some saliva on the chin.
Yesterday I was chatting with PartySugar after Switzerland's big upset over World Cup favorite Spain. She said her Spanish friend already knew who to blame for the loss: goal keeper Iker Casillas's new girlfriend. So I looked into it and found out that sportscaster Sara Carbonero, who is romantically linked to Iker, is taking heat in Spain. Sara reported on the game right behind Iker's goal while he was warming up and interviewed him after the game. When asked if this could destabilize the team she said, "I think it is nonsense." But some fans disagree.
Sara isn't the only beautiful WAG to get blamed for distracting her guy. Last weekend, the English media had to find something to blame for the tie against the novice Yanks. They pointed to goal keeper Robert Green's devastating breakup with his girlfriend. But while Europeans worry that their soccer stars can't keep their professional and personal lives separate (the English coach has gone as far as limiting conjugal visits), the Americans aren't as worried. Team USA's coach says the WAGs are welcome.

David Beckham joined the English team this afternoon for a practice session in Cape Town, South Africa. His countrymen fit in a last-minute workout before they're due to get back on the field tomorrow against Algeria. David was on the sidelines last weekend to watch as his squad tied the USA, so hopes are high for England that the next match will end in a win. He's expected to stay in Africa for the duration of the tournament, and at the moment that means David's away from his family as they visit with friends in London. Victoria and their boys are sure to send David lots of love this Sunday on Father's Day, as he marks the holiday along with many other smoking hot celebrity dads.
