Diablo Cody is known for her witty, sharp dialogue for coming-of-age characters, and her latest project, Young Adult, opening in limited release this Friday, touches on that very topic with a new twist. We spoke to Diablo about changing Charlize Theron's "perfect DNA" into a "haggard and pitiful" character. She also talked about being a compulsive Googler and her obsession with high school themes. Watch now to hear more!
Elizabeth Reaser on Being a Teenage Bad Girl and Charlize Theron's "Mind-Blowing" Performance
Straight off her whirlwind press tour with Breaking Dawn, Elizabeth Reaser took time out to talk to us about her next role as the wife of Charlize Theron's ex-boyfriend in Young Adult, opening in limited release this Friday. She told us about her life as a teenage bad girl — from skipping school to running away from home — and what it was like witnessing Charlize Theron's "mind-blowing" performance during filming. Watch to hear more cute anecdotes from Elizabeth's younger years, plus why she's so fascinated with people from high school.
Charlize Theron on Being a Teenage Ballerina, and Her Own High School Crush
Charlize Theron stars in Young Adult, which opens in limited release Friday, as a teen fiction writer returning to her small hometown in the hopes of reuniting with an ex-boyfriend. She told us about her own high school crush, who she says somehow never even knew she existed. Watch to hear what Charlize has to say about her "imaginary" relationship with him, as well as her comments on life as a teenager with ballerina aspirations.
Young Adult Trailer: Charlize Theron Doesn't Wanna Grow Up
The title of Young Adult may refer to the literary genre that Charlize Theron's character dabbles in, but it's clear that her character is a bit of an overgrown child herself. Theron plays Mavis, a former high school mean girl who's still stuck in the past (as evidenced by more than just her Hello Kitty t-shirt), and returns to her hometown to reclaim her ex-boyfriend (Patrick Wilson). Though he's married and expecting a baby, deluded Mavis still has full confidence in her powers of persuasion.
The movie reteams Juno screenwriter Diablo Cody and director Jason Reitman, and I was happy to see that there's plenty of dry humor here without an onslaught of Cody's signature invented slang. Theron fits the role of the still-gorgeous former teen queen like a glove, and Patton Oswalt provides a nice foil as the only guy in town who can still stand her. The film hits theaters on Dec. 16, but take a look at the trailer when you read more
Young Adult Poster: Charlize Theron Is Down and Out
Even though we haven't seen a trailer yet, I'm getting more excited about Young Adult, the dark comedy that pairs Juno collaborators Jason Reitman and Diablo Cody. Today we get to see the official poster, which gives us more of an insight into Charlize Theron's character, a young adult novelist trying to get back together with her ex-boyfriend (Patrick Wilson). The art is reminiscent of a vintage book cover, a nod to the lead character's occupation, but the focal point is obviously our protagonist passed out cold, clutching a bottle of booze as her tiny pooch looks on. I can't wait to see Oscar winner Theron go off the deep end when the movie debuts Dec. 16. Excited too? Check out a bigger version of the Young Adult poster when you read more

Charlize Theron Gets Cozy on Set Amid Rumors of a Witchy Role
Charlize Theron rotated through her wardrobe yesterday on the NYC set of Young Adult. She's been shooting the new movie, which was penned by Juno's Diablo Cody, around the Big Apple for the past few weeks. Charlize plays an author in the film, and her next role may be the evil witch in an upcoming adaptation of Snow White. Charlize is gearing up for her return to the big screen, but she's also apparently making time for a new romance with model Eric Thal after her split from Stuart Townsend.
Charlize Theron Is a Model Actress on the Set of Young Adult
Charlize Theron wore a studded Joie top at work yesterday in NYC shooting her new movie Young Adult. The actress plays a novelist in the film, which was created by Juno masterminds Diablo Cody and Jason Reitman. Charlize is starring opposite Patrick Wilson, though in real life she's rumored to be moving on from her ex Stuart Townsend with actor and model Eric Thal. Charlize is no stranger to striking a pose herself, as she and Orlando Bloom recently were front and center in a campaign for Uniqlo. Now Charlize is focusing on her big-screen project, but she tried her hand at the small one over the Summer by appearing in a Brandon Flowers music video.
