A number of pieces from the Fashion Institute of Technology archives will be on sale at Yoox.com beginning today, as the online retailer celebrates its partnership with FIT's current exhibition.

In addition to the sale, Yoox is hosting a virtual exhibition of "American Beauty: Aesthetics & Innovation in Fashion" which focuses on the convergence of technical dressmaking and the philosophy of beauty. Throughout a series of short videos, curator Patricia Mears takes viewers through specific pieces from the exhibit with interviews from Ralph Rucci, Nicolas Caito, Hamish Bowles, Yeohlee Teng, and Francisco Costa offering additional insights.

The curators spend three minutes breaking down the construction of a Halston dress—wearing white gloves—and muse on the difference of tailoring versus dressmaking. For fashion lovers and budding designers, the videos offer insights deeper than the typical designer interivew and into the real behind the scenes work that goes into constructing a garment.

Gwen Stefani led the pack yesterday at Fashion Group International's annual Night of Stars in NYC. She struck a pose in black alongside fellow designer Eva Mendes, while Dita von Teese and Evan Rachel Wood apparently managed to avoid an awkward run-in. Gucci model James Franco took a break from his other Big Apple activities to smile for the cameras next to the house's designer, Frida Giannini, and Mary J. Blige. Mary and Frida were together earlier in the day to open the new Mary J. Blige Center For Women in Yonkers, and their charitable ways continued into the evening of celebrating the year's best fashionable good deeds.

Lindsay Lohan was in Paris last night to attend the 90 Years of Vogue Covers party at the Hotel Crillon. It was an evening off from her preparations for the upcoming Ungaro show, which will take place this Sunday during the city's Fashion Week. Other presentations have been taking place in the French capital since Wednesday, bringing out a range of stars from Rihanna to Adrian Grenier. LL has been busy inviting pals to see her debut collection as Ungaro's artistic adviser, as well as overseeing the progress on her 6126 leggings line.

Just as much as the show is about cool girl basics — this time flutter-backed tops and fitted leather jackets — and how show stylist Tabitha Simmons pulled them all together, it's about the models.  Iselin Steiro, who hadn't walked a runway in a year, opened; model-to-watch Emily DiDonato made it her first runway show ever; Kinga Rajzak debuted a newly-dyed brunette 'do; and Jessica Stam, who is said to have collaborated on the collection, sat front row and Tweeted about it — she's only doing two New York shows, the first is Anna Sui.

Isabella Blow Gets Two Biographies in 2010

>> Isabella Blow, discoverer of Stella Tennant, Sophie Dahl, Hussein Chalayan, Philip Treacy, Alexander McQueen — and muse to the latter two — passed away at 48 a little over two years ago after ingesting weedkiller.  The motive was suspected to be a recent ovarian cancer diagnosis; Blow had a history of at least two suicide attempts, one involving her throwing herself from the elevated Hammersmith Flyover road in London.

Needless to say, there's a story to be told, and two different biographies, both scheduled for 2010, are in the works, reports the New York Observer. The first, Blow by Blow: The Story of Isabella Blow, is co-written by Isabella's husband of 18 years, Detmar Blow, and author Tom Sykes, who first met Isabella when he was 20 and his sister Plum Sykes was her assistant at Vogue.

Before they were removed from the room, Anna replied, "Fur is still a part of fashion, so Vogue will continue to report on it."

The discussion covered a number of topics, including the Internet — Wintour said that Vogue.com, which has been noticeably increasing in content the past couple of months, will "break out on our own" from Style.com next year.  She also mentioned that Andre Leon Talley, who recently started a blog for Vogue.com, Talley Ho!, was initially dragged kicking and screaming to the Web, saying he wasn't into the modern world, but now loves blogging.  Some highlights, including a hint at the next cover, from the chat — more at The Cut:

You've said it's time to move on from a job when you get too angry. Are you getting to the point where you're thinking about other options?

Well, tomorrow is another day. We'll never know. But we certainly do have a model tied to the next issue, yes.
